Morning everybody. Hope al is well with you. 48 here this am going to 77, wend gusts up to 33 mph and yep we have a red flag warning in effect here until 8 tonight.

Drew Hope you are still as happy with that trailer as you were when you paid for it, now that it is home.

I have BIG plans for today. I hope to take a nap. IMHO I need one. Bad to be saying that when I have only been up about 1 1/2 hr's. Hope you all have a great day. Ed

57 degrees on a clear day going up to 78 today. very nice day and good to be outside, once I get done with the dentist who is finally installing my bridge today. Will be nice to not have to chew on one side as I have for almost three months.

Then...geez, the lawn needs mowing...groan. at least weedwacked; weeds popping up around the barn, they're everywhere! But let's see, mow the lawn or play with the travel trailer. Hmmmm:D
It fit just fine in my parking lot; at least with rain coming tomorrow it might get a bath. One more giant thing to wash...like my old boat and old motorhome. As I type this with my right wrist wrapped in an ace bandage, I'm sure from 50 years of washing and waxing something constantly.
Nothing like the smell of warm carnauba in the morning...
Actually they did a nice job waxing the rv, so that part won't be needed for awhile. Now to figure out where to store something 32 feet long; unlikely on my place because I don't think I can hide it.

Am off to get the 30amp to 15amp converter so I can plug the trailer into the house and get the a/c going. Now I suppose I could put a nice electrical outlet on the side of the garage, just might do that.
I mean when Ron comes to visit, the juice must be ready. 50 amps for him; maybe I'll meter it for guests....;)

I bet if Eric added up two or more of his car engine horsepowers it wouldn't total 395. Maybe all of them and the Iseki thrown in too...
of course if he could buy gasoline for 1.76 a gallon, and diesel for 1.89, he might be in the garage turning up the wick on his engines.

You are right there Drew, the 3.5 litre V6 Isuzu I once had is now a distant memory. The only upside to our punitive taxes is that it tends to make you choose vehicles that don't have to stop at the petrol station half as frequently as they once did.

29F snow sleet mix enough cover ground showers later mid 30's for high, more of the same tonight.

The ones which replace there snow tires already sure going to be surprise, more so than last storm.

That in itself does not seem fair

Good morning all. Weather forecaster on the radio is telling me to make the most of this last dry day as it's all about to change. Going by the water now dripping off my jacket and the rain running down the window, I would say it's changed already.

Found first dead lamb of the year, one of a pair of twins, with head caught in a fence. It would possibly be still alive if the crows hadn't found it before me. These things happen, there will doubtless be more, even Disney films don't have happy endings for every creature.

It was good yesterday to be getting on with some of the things that needed the tractor, without sinking into mud. First up was to try and move that concrete water trough I asked you about a couple of weeks or so ago. A heavy pry bar eventually made a hole through the brick base and let me lift it up a bit, then it was easy going on the right side once I had it chocked up.

IMG_20160323_112208.jpg

The other side was fast to the ground from below with what I guessed was the steel water supply pipe, all nicely encased in concrete. At that point I almost thought of quitting, building it up back level and then bringing in more earth to make it accessible by sheep (it had previously been on a raised plinth for cattle). Instead of being sensible, I took a few swings sideways with the sledge hammer and to my surprise and delight, the rusty pipe sheared off. Even better, the concrete base parted company from the still intact trough, allowing me to lift it up and away with the loader to it's new home.

Buckeye, hope your dad had an enjoyable birthday and a good few more to come. I like the sketch behind his left shoulder, in your picture.

Ed Of all the self indulgent treats in the world, I can't think of anything better than taking the time for a nap when you are ready for it. ;)

Good morning all. 54 degrees and raining. Started storming about 4 a.m. but, that's pretty well passed by, just light rain now. Rain should be over before dawn.

Plan on more tree trimming today.

64 this morning and headed to 65 today. Rain will be here before 10.

I'm going to head to the chicken coops and see what I can get decrusted before I get rained out. Then it's take the wife to the doctor. It's ultrasound day!! Already had one private ultrasound, this is the one with the doctor to do the anatomy check and confirm gender. Then back home to go to a Cattleman's meeting. Will be a late night as I believe I'm due for my BQA (Beef Quality Assurance) recertification.

Drew. My grandparents and some of my neighbors have their campers under carports. I have one for my wife's vehicle. Mine came from North Carolina. Installed for like $700. 12x21. I'd recommend the 12x36 or 12x41. Just get additional height and do get some metal put on the width 12' side. That's their down fall. The wind will make them sway.

Coffee has been poured. 55° with clear skies this morning. Heading to 80° with sunny skies this morning. Sinuses are working overtime. Winds last couple of days have blown pollen and dust into everything. Should die down today. should be a good day for a bike ride. Then some patio time.
David and Buckeye, Happy belated Birthday to your wife and father.
Drew, 50 amp is the only way to go. Putting up a carport has always been my plan.
Good Morning All.

Yesterday was dangerous tree removal day. Three guys and a boom came out and took care of the trees with no dammage and no one getting hurt.

One tree was over the paver driveway and the orther over the tractor shed. With 67MPH winds last night I think I got them down just in time.

They cut the trees in grapple size chunks and the smaller limbs move them in position while I grapple the limbs out of the yard. I never had to get off the tractor.

I told them to leave a large stump on the tree by the pavers, for leverage, so I could dig it out with the BH today, but I lost an argument with my wife when she wanted to leave it for the woodpeckers. Just about then a large redheaded woodpecker landed on the side of the tree. So the project is finished. We now have a wildlife woodpecker tree in the yard.

A bit of good information:
The chainsaw prefered by the people who use them every day is ECHO.

Sounds familiar, 59° to 76°, elevated fire danger, very breezy.

Good morning,
Anything but nice on the North Bluff,

Rain all day today then a chance of snow tonight. So I guess that locks my day to inside. Maybe I will do something in the train room.

It is still snowing like mad up north. Those guys are stuck. I am glad I call off on this trip when they asked if I wanted to go up on Monday. They were going to come home today but not now.

Nice job on the trees Don. Around here it seems to be Sthil or Husqvarna. Don't see many ECHO used. I still use my 38 year old Jonsered 49SP.:licking: In their day they were the saw to have.

59F with a slight overcast and sun peeking through occasionally @ 09:00 ... high today is predicted to be 70F, rain later tonight.

Probably try and get some stuff done outside today.

Trip to the vet's at the rescue place was an overall success, although not without it's moments. Squeak was a real trooper, the other two not so much.

Everybody got their shots and were pronounced healthy. The Squeak weighed in 5.5 lbs, Missy at 13.5 lbs, and Mister at 15.8 lbs.

I was able to round them up and get them in the carriers with no problem ... however, all it took was starting the car and moving and the big, brave guy started caterwauling, like he was sure he was being taken to some terrible fate ... perhaps to be skinned alive. And it continued pretty much the entire way there (about an hour drive)

He and his sister were in the back seat, facing each other ... and he managed to get her upset as well, so by the time we got there they were both howling to beat the band.

And that wasn't all ... they had both crapped themselves.

The Squeak was sitting on the passenger seat facing me, and just kept looking at me with an occasional "mew" like "What the heck is wrong with these guys ?"

The trip home was considerably more quiet, although about halfway there Mister started with the howling again, but somewhat more subdued. The Squeak curled up in a ball in her carrier and slept pretty much all the way home.

When we got to the house, I took Missy and Mister straight to the bathroom in their carriers.

Ever try to give a cat a bath that doesn't want one by yourself ?

Missy went first ... she managed to escape out of the tub several times, but got thoroughly hosed down ... after I got her hosed off, I towel dried her and let her out into the house. She immediately headed for the food bowl to grab a bite to eat.

Mister was even worse. He was entirely sure that that hand-held Shower Massage thing with the water coming out of it was some nefarious device designed to extract all 9 lives from any kitty it might encounter, all in one fell swoop. He eventually reached the point of exhaustion and I managed to get him to lie down in the tub (while I held him) and I hosed him off. Have never seen him pant as hard as he did during that ordeal.

Then I dried him off and let him out into the house while I went back into the bathroom to mop up the floor with a towel. It was bright in the bathroom with all the lights on, but when I came back out into the hall it was pretty dark and I couldn't see all that well ... and unfortunately Mister was still hanging around near the bathroom door and I didn't see him and managed to give him a pretty good kick with my right foot as I started up the hall towards the kitchen.

He screamed and ran into the kitchen underneath the table and gave me the stink eye when I caught up with him. Shortly thereafter he fled to underneath the bed in the master bedroom. He came out a couple of times later, after the wife got home ... but every time he heard my voice he fled for the bed.

Eventually, around 22:00 or so, he came out while I was up and moving around and started rubbing on my legs. All was apparently forgiven.

I came through it pretty good ... other than my pants and t-shirt getting soaking wet and a few scratches on my left arm.

When I relayed the events of the trip to The Woman she immediately said "Oh, well ... we're sure not going to do that again !" ...

... we're ... ?
