Good morning!!!!

Well my day got interesting really fast.

Took the wife and boy to Pizza Hut for lunch and then went for about a 2 hour drive. Try to come home and this mobile home is sitting in the ditch. So I come in the back way. Am home 5 minutes and a knock on the door. Can you bring your dozer down and pull us out. The tractor that's there can't. 60hp 4x4.
I'll come look at it but doubt my dozer is big enough. Go look. Yep it ain't even close enough to bring it down here. 4 axles at 4K each. Who have you called?
I get a list.
Ok I've got one more name. Let me call.
Leave voicemail. (It's Saturday afternoon he may already be passed out.) I tell the guy who owns the trailer I'll take him down to the shop of the guy that I tried calling to see if cousin or an employee is around. Cousin is there. He calls another guy. Other guy shows up with a 75hp 4x4. Can't lift the trailer. Truck was moved as its a hydraulic hitch and can mess up seals. So cousin goes back and gets the only tractor at the shop. A New Holland T8030. Front duals.
Comes in and with a chain picks up the trailer hitch and drags it out of ditch. No problems, couldn't even tell when he picked it up by watching tractor. 2 smaller ones were doing wheelies. Road is open. Only took 4 hours.

If your BBQ has vinegar on it, it's just ruined meat.

Lol, just kidding.

Most NC BBQ is dry rub, the vinegar is part of the sauce that some use, me included, along with Cole slaw, and beer!

Took a little trip up to the other end of the property today, was rather interesting.

It looks like at least one small tree (5" or 6" diameter) was recently cut down with a chainsaw, dropping it across the path/trail the kids ride their atv's and dirt bikes on. Odd because it was on the side of the property that borders the guy who keeps sheep and his property is fenced ... rather than on the side that borders the rear of homeowner lots on an adjacent street. Might have been done by our recent house guests, as an attempt to collect firewood.

Also noticed some evidence of additional trees being cut up, but it looks like those were ones that were already down and it was done to clear the trail, not block it ... and was done quite some time ago (years)

Found a bunch of daffodils coming up out of a pile of dirt/yard one of my neighbors had dumped in the woods ... need to go dig them up on the next dry day.

Posted a "Private Property - No Trespassing" sign at the northwest corner where there is a trail across a vacant lot that allows access to our property. Also posted one at the point where the road turns into our driveway and refastened one of the other signs that had come loose on two corners.

Too muddy to do any field work with the yard waste/compost piles. Finished repairs on the HPS light on the polebarn. Replaced the fuel filter element on the ORD tank and refilled the Kubota.

Moved extension ladder and set it up on the east side of the house to install the motion sensor light. Brought over a couple more plastic bins to haul old tile out of the bathroom. Bathroom still stinks of mold ... will move the ozone generator in there later today and get it going.

Then fixed dinner and had it waiting when the wife rolled in.

Still no further communication from alarm company no. 2 ... or alarm company no. 1 for that matter.

Since there is rain in the forecast for today, it will likely be a mostly inside day ... although with all the warm weather we've had lately the outside is sure calling ... but just too wet. Noticed that the lilacs are budding, and the azaleas have leaves on them ... although I can't remember whether the azaleas are the deciduous variety or not ...

May compose a letter that will go to every neighbor on the adjacent road whose property abuts ours. The gist of it will be: if you are dumping stuff on our property just stop it.

Infrared motion sensor alarms are on sale @ HF for $13 so may have to stop by there and get in on that action.

Good morning. Although cool, yesterday wasn't a bad day weather-wise at all, just one little shower had me turning the power off the extension lead and unplugging the sabre saw before I had finished cutting up the last, tired, re-purposed pallet. That faithful pallet, complete with 2' high wooden sides and wrapped around in clear plastic, has grown on a good number of plants these last few years as a makeshift cold frame. The sun is shining today, so it's stay of execution will have been short. Anyway, this isn't the infamous pallet thread, so no time for mourning over old pallets this morning, my wife wants me to get on with her new garden ...

MKR, what was the question ? Was it, how much will it cost you in shipping to send all those pieces of machinery over to me ? Oh, you are too kind . :)

44 right now...high of 53 today.
Ice and snow have all melted...think I'll run the Gator down to the field and see how mucky it is...and I think I'll wear my muck boots, just in case.

No other plans...

My sciatica is talking back this morning, along with my knee that flared up a couple of weeks back, but oh well, beats feeding the worms!:D

Drew, Drew, Drew, you just haven't been to the right BBQ place in NC, stop in the northeastern corner at some little joint on the side of the road. If you want lean and smokey, you don't really want eastern Carolina que, it needs a little fat to do it's thing! Seriously, outside of northeastern NC and southeastern Virginia, I've had maybe 3 good BBQ sandwiches, that I would consider NC style. I like other styles also, but don't tell me you're serving NC style and show up with red sauce. BBQ rant over...

Mid 40's this morning, big uptake from the 60's yesterday morning, mid 60's later.

Did you ever eat BBQ from Stoney's - a little shack near the Southern Branch on, I think, Bainbridge Blvd in what is now Chesapeake? I remember as a kid my Dad taking me over there to get good Carolina BBQ...so good...he was from Northampton NC so knew what good BBQ was.

52 going to 72. Rain starts its run for 2 days today.

Finished cutting, splitting and stacking my big white oak yesterday and am worn out.

MKR - quite a list...nice to share, too. I just found out my neighbor bought an old TLB, but has to fix the backhoe before using :). But no tiller? Maybe no big gardeners in your group.
