33 going to 67 and sunny, likely rain tonight.

Larro, love those garden pics...we're still weeks from where you and Kev are.

Thomas, good joke on the frost heaves and coffee cup.

Had a great trip to visit my mom yesterday...always learn a little history of the family, or the area where she grew up. Coming home across the bridge-tunnel from Norfolk saw a nice view of the Chesapeake and Hampton Roads with several ships crossing...made me proud of our Navy as I saw an aircraft carrier headed out, and a cruiser coming in to port right over the tunnel. Of course, there were the container ships and freighters and crabbers and others.

39 degrees going to 72 today with light rain coming in tonight.
Two loads of stone coming today but not sure I'll be able to do anything with it.
First I have to get through being tortured by the dentist for hours, doing two crowns and then a bridge.
Will cost more than my first new car in 1971. Dentists do well.
And I'll be stuffed full of stuff clearly saying don't drive heavy machinery.
They couldn't mean a tractor could they?.....

I should come home and go to sleep but if that load of stone is there, well my FEL fingers start to itch...;)

Poured first cup of coffee. 59° with clear skies this morning. Heading to 85° with mostly sunny skies this morning. I do not know what February will have to do with summer temperatures here in AZ. 20 of the days in February were over 80°. Earliest recorded 90° day was on the 17th. Normal daytime temperatures should be in the low 70's. With some rain. No rain was recorded during the month of February. All I can say is I'm enjoying it. Not much planned for today.
Drew, sorry to here of your need for more dental work.
Darro, way to early to think about gardens back in MI. Outside planting usually does not start until Memorial Day.
Good Morning All.

Good Morning! 52F @ 5:00 AM. A mix of clouds and sun. Near record high temperatures. High 71F. Winds SE at 10 to 15 mph.

Good luck at the dentist, Drew. Is it safe? (A reference to the ancient Dustin Hoffman movie "Marathon Man")

Yesterday was the grand opening for the motorcycle club's new web site. Everyone had to reset their password, and out of 3000+ members, some just couldn't figure it out. SPAM filters got in some's way, others didn't know that their membership had expired, and a few just couldn't follow directions to save their lives. It's for folks like these that we'll maintain a printed magazine and people who open letters to process membership renewals.

A midst all that fun I started the installation of a new radio in the truck. The free removal tools didn't prove up to the task on the old radio and I ended up pulling off the dash panel, which mercifully came free with some careful prying. Some judicious carving with the band sander got the opening big enough for the new radio, and the mounting kit seems to actually do the job, but I ran out of daylight before being able to see if it will actually make noise. Crutchfield also sourced the adapters for the truck power lead and speaker wires, which I put together with solder and heat shrink tubing. This radio comes with a microphone so it can interface to a smart phone, along with the attendant USB cable. And then there's a backup camera in the package as well, so it looks like I'll get to spend a fair amount of time crawling around in and under the truck today, picking dirt out of my eyes and squinting with the flashlight. I just hope I don't poke any holes through which the magic smoke escapes.

Have a good 'un, folks!

49 this morning and headed to 59 today. Storms a coming and some could be severe.

Need to get scaffolding off the gooseneck so it's ready to move tractor. Thinking about trying to take it after the storms. Then circle back through the city and drop off soil samples. If I drop off today the results will be e-mailed by Thursday. Pretty speedy service. Sometime in here today I have some housekeeping at the chicken coops and some maintenance to do.

Drew. Good luck at dentist.

Good Morning! Thanks for all the Birthday wishes.

66˚, cloudy heading to only 73˚ before a cold front hits at noon and we will be in the 40s in the morning.

The wild plum trees are in full bloom.

March 1st - today ends my 3 year break from my previous 3 year long paver project. Now I start on sidewalks, pics starting tomorrow. Hopefully this project will only take a month. Wife says -

Voting day in Texas.

Drew, "on meds" is a good excuse for mistakes made on heavy equipment.

Good Morning. 0745, mostly cloudy, 54F with 98% humidity. Forecast high of 77F with 20% chance of rain today, and a low of 56F tonight.

My Great-granddaddy Lamb always shaved and cut his hair in April when he sheared the sheep. My winter beard didn't last that long. I shaved it off yesterday. Speaking of sweating in the garden, I haven't planted any seeds directly into the ground yet. I expect at least one more cold snap, so everything outside is where it can be covered in case of frost. Next Monday and Tuesday are good above ground planting days, so I may roll the dice and start then. The average last frost for Tallahassee is April 5th, but their average first frost was off by about 4 weeks last fall. The times, they are a changing.

I'm off to town this morning, doing the shopping for the week. I'm going through Black Kow, peat moss, blood and bone meal way too fast. Gardening is not cheap.

You guys have a good one,

Larro

Drew, "on meds" is a good excuse for mistakes made on heavy equipment.

actually, a "bad" excuse...as i look at the lovely pile of crusher run just waiting for me,
calling to me like a siren on the rocks...

As Captain Drew on the Good Ship Kubota heads for the rocks...
well, they are little rocks actually.... ;)

I survived, splitting headache as expected, but ok.

45.6F and overcast ... winds are out of the northwest, but we're not yet on the backside of the front ... still pretty nice out.

Managed to find the install kit for security floodlight yesterday. Emailed the mfg. asking if they could provide a set of install instructions. I had an email back from them within 10 or 15 minutes, with two separate PDF's - one for the light and another for the motion sensor. Fairly impressive, considering the light is probably over ten years old and is a PRC product.

Also found a second alarm panel (for the original system) yesterday that I had forgotten we had.

The alarm sales critter called and woke me up this morning, wanted to know if he and the boss could stop by about an hour earlier than we had agreed. They just left after surveying the house/property. Should hear something from in the next couple of days.

While they were here a guy from the Summit County Sheriff's Department called re a tip I had phoned in about our miscreant house guests. I phoned that in probably a week ago ... he just got the message yesterday supposedly.

Around here you can be fined for mounting exterior sirens.
So far as I know, there is no law forbidding it here ... but probably be a good idea to check and verify that.

Guess folks don't like being disturbed by false alarms.
I'd imagine not.

OTOH, I would think that most neighbors might appreciate being notified of the presence of criminal activity/element in their immediate vicinity.

No one around here to hear it anyway when I'm gone, except the one neighbor, and they're the ones I worry about. So the siren goes inside, to wake you up if an intruder breaks the perimeter sensors. And I suppose the panel is a reasonable location for it, but a thief would likely gladly sacrifice his hearing to try to shut the blasted thing off.
Yup ... and all he would have to do to disable it at the panel is pull or cut the wire to kill it. Having multiple sirens (redundancy) in various locations - some not all that readily apparent - will make it a bit tougher, particularly if they haven't bothered to case the joint.

As it stands now, the one I relocated from the panel and mounted outside has no exposed exterior wiring. And it's tamper-proof - meaning that if someone attempts to disable it, they are likely going to trip the alarm system and set it off. There is another one that is inside a tamper-proof enclosure as well. And that ain't all ... :D

As far as notification while sleeping goes, the control panels themselves will handle that - they sound anytime the system is tripped - and that alone is loud enough to wake someone up.

great pics mkr. they look pretty edible...

Since I had an EMT on site...my helper, I did a little sand and stone work while slightly TUI.
Both loads of crusher run were delivered, thankfully, and I pretty much wiped out one pile.
The other is earmarked for between the barn and the new shed to finally get that graded properly.

Time for a nap. Too much fun today.

Got my voting, weight lifting and cardio done, and ready now to go hitch up the bush hog for a 3 acre mowing run in this 72 degree heat wave.

Drew, glad your back from the chair, with your sense of humor intact.

Don, looking forward to your paver project, if it's anything like your compass, it might take both you and Ron until next year.

Kev, FTN, incredible number of turkeys...when does spring gobbler season open up your way? :).

RS, I expect I'll be hearing your alarms here. :)

   / Good morning!!!! #43,180
Not in season till April 11th and you won't see them then.

Ain't it funny how they just disappear? I have a flock of 35 or so birds that come by every other day till the last week of March and they are gone till fall.
