I changed the hyd. filter on my BX2200 Kubota and when I removed the old filter a spring & a ball dropped out of the filter hole. I'm not a mechanic but I know that is not right. Hope someone knows what happened, why & how big a job to fix. Thanks in advance.

If it is a screw on filter, hopefully the ball and spring are parts of the filter, probably bypass valve for over pressure.

Not sure if will help or not but you can go to Messicks | Your home for New Holland, Case IH, Kubota & More... and they will e-mail you a parts schematic and you may find/see a missing snap ring or other type of retainer...as well as a re-assembly sequence etc...

I agree with Murky.. Looking at the service manual I don't see anything in that area that uses a ball and spring except the PTO relief valve and don't see how that could end up at the filter.

Cut the old filter open and see if it has collapsed internally and the spring and ball are part of the over pressure relief.

The ball is a magnet, it & the spring get's cleaned up and re installed in the new filter.

Interesting. I dont think I've ever seen a ball shaped magnet before. There might be some unique magnet tricks possible with a pair of those.

From the parts diagram it appears there is a ball, spring and seat in that location which I would think could be a check valve or pressure relief valve?
Index of Kubotabooks/Tractor Parts Manuals/

The spring and ball are from the PTO pressure release valve.
My BX2200 does not have a spring and ball associated with the hyd. filter. My guess is it is internal to the filter.

I grabbed the wrong filter so disregard!

Well it's a small cylinder shaped one on my tractor. I hope I gave the proper advice:eek: I remember having similar thoughts going through my head when the spring & magnet showed up on my filter change. It is diagramed in my owners manual, of course I did not notice it until several minutes of "worry" passed and I returned to the OM for another look.
