cold morning, 25 going up to fifties today in a warming trend for two days, 65 on Sat, 70 on Sunday. Then it cools off again next week. Looks like a marvelous
weekend to get things done since the ground has had a few days to dry and I can get machinery moving around.
Helper comes today to finish barn floor area, set my diesel tank, and work on the culvert sides. I raked ditches for an hour yesterday afternoon and my right arm has been suggesting to me that would be a poor choice for today... reminds me I need to call the neighbor with the two teenage kids and see if they want to work tomorrow.
Teenage kids who want to work. amazing...
Probably not unusual for our crowd, but overall, yeah, it's more than disappointing.
If you grew up on a farm, you knew you had to work. Somebody had to get it all done, everyone had chores.
If you grew up in suburbia, you knew how to beat your buddies in video games, but did you learn
how to install an oil filter properly? How about how to prune a broken branch?
Or plant a tree...
Or which end of the snow shovel to use...

I have had two unrelated kids working on my place that were disasters This current pair of brothers might work out fine, nice polite hard working kids. When the father works two jobs to get by, at least in this family, it makes a point to the sons. You want stuff, you have to work. Don't put your hand out...
