How did you find TBN?

SORRY late to this thread, just got back from a few days of christmasing with my kids and grandchild. i do beleive i stumbled on this site when i was doeing a search for coffee AND LOW AND BEHOLD THOMAS'S name popped up and directed me to tbn.. serious , i can't recall just how i found it, know i was doing a search for kubota and stumbled across tbn. as they say! the best things in life are free! now if only i can get my kubota dealer to think that way /w3tcompact/icons/eyes.gif

Muhammad, That was the article. He did not mention TBN, but gave a website address that did. TBN has proven to be much more valuable.

As I recall, I think the first hit on Google search engine for "compact tractor" was TBN, as it is today. I was about to buy a compact tractor about 15 months ago and did a lot of reading on TBN before I made my decision. After just looking at the date I registered, I don't think I had asked any questions until after I bought the JD 4100. Then it was about rear blade vs. box blade, toothbar, loading tires and maybe a few other things I wanted advice on. I got my advice, gave some, and added some lights with TBNers ideas and my own.

Last summer, eight of us TBNers and some family members were able to get together at Empire Farm Days in Seneca Falls, NY. That was a great "reunion" and hopefully we'll be able to do it again. TBN has been a great experience for me.

Actually, Paul, I don't think anyone disparaged the 1050 MFWD with FEL. I just couldn't get together with the now-defunct New Holland dealer on that one. I asked them to get me a price on a pair of front tires for it and a week passed without a return call from the salesman. When I called him back I found out another salesman sold the 1050 the evening before. /w3tcompact/icons/hmm.gif/w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif/w3tcompact/icons/mad.gif

I ended up buying a used 4200 MFWD with FEL and a backhoe with 100 hours for about the same money. I traded size and HP for 2000 fewer hours, an HST, a backhoe and about a dozen years less age. I think I did well but every once in a while I'll be doing something and think it'd be a lot easier with the bigger, more powerful 1050. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Spencer: was referred by yesterdays tractors site (antiquetractor.com I believe) which is also a very excellent site focusing on older tractors. At the time I had an old Farmall SC. I originally browsed this site only as I don't like the intrusive setting of cookies (which are not technically necessary and only useful for splitting processing-if the host server is slow- or, spying on the client). Since I now have a new tractor (to be delivered mid-Jan 03) I went ahead and joined. broad range of experience/advice/info etc here, geared (no hydro trans for me!!!) (sorry, couldn't resist that one) toward so-called "compact" tractors. John

I came by the most circuitous way imaginable.

On a political site there is this character. He reminds me of my real life friends. We agree on about three things and disagree on everything else. But those three things are so important we get along and have even found a fondness for each other's company.

In the midst of a cyber battle he throws me a curve. He tosses me TBN and says I would like the place.

He was right.

I think it has something to do with the birds of a feather thing.

Not that ya'll are like me, gawd forbid!

But I see things in ya'll that I'd like to be like.

ya only problem is i got 4 footitus. Started with a 17', now have a 21'. Now I would like to find a 25 footer. It never ends.]smile]

Have you ever posted at tractor point.com site and reference TBN in your post, only to find your entire post is removed a few hours latter? I have had it happen to me several times, so I stopped even looking at the site. Reading several posts, it appears the two web owners were both trying to start a tractor web site and it looks like TBN kicked butt!, gee I wonder why??

Anyhow, this is really the best site, I visit on a regular bases and post when I can offer some help, BUT I learn much more then I ever can give back. Makes me wonder how long this site can be around for and how I will ever do without it when its gone, did I say I was addicted?? Lets hope that day is many many years away!

In early 2002, I was on other tractor discussion boards and folks at the other sites kept referencing TBN. I don't even remember what those other sites are now since TBN is the only tractor site I visit.

I was searching the net for informati9on on Kubota's ... back about 3 years or more ago. Found the original site and stuck around whgen it became TBN.

I recently joined the board so I can remember how it happened. It happened the same way we happened into the house and property.

We decided to buy a rental house and started looking. The wife said, "If we buy a house I'd like it to be for us," as we were renting at the time. Two and a half months later we moved into our new little place on five acres.

Having never lived on acreage before I thought an atv w/ implements would be a fun way to go -- glad I bought a tractor. I was researching atv implements and clicked a link to a chinese tractor site read through that and clicked on a link somewhere either in a forum or on the site and ended up at countrybynet and then TBN.

I'm still climbing that learning curve, but its not as steep now.

Winter of 99/2000 I was looking for a tractor to help prepare our new property for building. I started at yesterday.whatever (antique board) when I had my misguided heart set on an 8N or TO30. Then I went to CTB. That was a great sight back then. A very wise BirdSenter kept referring to TractorByNet & I been lost here ever since. I bought the TC33 in May2000. Thank you Bird... Mo...

Some of the posters on Lawn-Site were talking about this site so I thought I would check it out. I am a forth generation Indiana farm boy.Unfortunately my 99 year old grandmother is leaving the home place to my Dad (who earned it) and my aunt (who didn't earn it) and that means I don't have much time to come up with enough money to buy the place when dad is forced to sell it to pay off his sister. I started my own business 6 years ago but I am afraid I started to late. then again maybe my grandmother will out live them. She still out shops them!! LOL. I do have my uncles Farmall B,my grandfathers four JD's--1964--1020,2020, 1969 4000,-1976 4230,--And an old CO-OP I'm not sure what year it is though. I have just begun to search this site but I like what I have seen so far.Sites like this offer a treasure trove of information. I love the info-net.

I started looking for information on Kubota's and ended up on the pre-TBN site in early '99. The internet was new to me, I'm a slow starter, and it took about a year before I would put my name on anything in the net and register.

Its been said many times but THANKS MUHAMMAD, this site has been an amazing source of information and a wonderful world wide community of people. Shoot, I know some of the people here better than some of my neighbors and wish the best to all of you in this New Year.

Just an update. Grandma lived to be over one-hundred and I was able to buy the farm.

I understand. I belong to 20 of theses sites and I can't keep up with all of them. I am looking for some help with my sons Lo Boy right now and this should be the right place for that....I hope.... so I came back for that.
I have a couple of sites I vent my political rants on and just discovered you have that here or you might have been sick of me by now.
