Quite often, I find a mylar baloon in the pasture, and think it's as close as I've seen to anything meeting the discription of that strange material. I don't think our government had mylar at the time of the Roswell incident or maybe they did and used it in secret projects.

I guess since I have found ballons, Mylar and regular ones, I don't think of them as strange anymore. :confused3::laughing:

The first I found was puzzling until I realized it was from a nearby church that had a kids birthday party. I have found several since then. What is strange is that I find the balloons in the same spot. :confused3: How is that possible. We are in the woods so how do the balloons get to a sport IN the woods...

Now, one balloon was a bit strange. It was the first balloon I found. I was walking the land when we had a contract on the place and saw what looked to be a man in a whitish colored suit leaning against a tree. :D:D:D That was a real WTF moment.:laughing::laughing: Twas a huge balloon. It took me a while to figure it out but it was a balloon from a place in town. At the time, a NASCAR team had built a large building in town and had these big balloons outside for some reason. One of the balloons got away and ended up on our soon to be place. What is odder still, is that the prevailing winds blow way from the NASCAR building, so the balloon got free on a day when the wind was in the opposite of its usual direction.

The owner of the neighboring parcel was out when I saw the balloon and we were having a chat and introducing ourselves. He has a deer stand near the property line but it faces mostly away from our land. Kinda a weird layout. Anyhow, we saw the balloon man leaning against a tree and he went over and took it. Not sure if he returned it to the NASCAR team or just tossed it in the trash.

Owls are gross. And they are scary as **** when you spot one in a tree while in the woods.

We have some owls at our place and we hear them from time to time. If they are close to you and let out a hoot, they will make you poo in your pants.:laughing::laughing::laughing:

When we had chickens, we turned the fenced in garden into a chicken run. One evening we were outside doing chores and I saw an owl fly to a tree about 50 yards away. The tree was at the edge of the woods. If I had not seen him land on the tree trunk, I don't think I could would have seen him at all. I had a heck of a time getting the wifey to see the owl because it blended in so well with the tree bark. Great camo it has and I don't think it is bought from Gander Mountain. :D:D:D

looks like some type of gate. Found it on the ground, leaned it on the tree so I could take photo

Maybe a pile of rocks or a now decayed brush pile a skunk once lived in.

I have an abandoned railroad across my property and occasionally find old spikes, and even a glass insulator - Hemingray. But, the most interesting find was on a friend's place in central Oklahoma. We were quail hunting many years ago and came across a headstone laying flat on the ground, mostly covered in grass, with the words "Pioneer Man" and nothing else.

:laughing::laughing: When I cut a log into rounds for firewood, I stack them off the ground and cover them with a tarp to keep the rain/snow off the wood...

Two weekends back, I went to one of my piles in the woods to do some splitting. I am always careful lifting the tarp because you don't know what will be under there though I have only found mice. :D Well I lifted one tarp corner and as I peeled the tarp of the wood pile, I found a curled up possum in a nice little leaf nest. Peter/Patty Possum was NOT real happy with me for disturbing it's sleep and letting in the light.:D:D:D Have to admit I felt guilty a bit. Peter/Patty Possum looked up with me with this WTF look on it's face. I don't think it could see anything since it was asleep in the dark and then I pulled off the tarp and let in the bright light. :( Peter/Patty Possum barely moved and then went back to sleep.:laughing::laughing:

I split some wood out of the pile for an hour then covered the wood pile and Peter/Patty Possum with the tarp so Peter/Patty Possum could go back to sleep.:laughing::laughing: Well, maybe, I went to another nearby pile of wood and split it for an hour or so which might have kept Peter/Patty Possum awake. Kinda doubt it though from the look on Peter/Patty Possum face. The look on Peter/Patty puss's showed a pretty pooped Possum. :D:D:D

Did your friend stand it back up? Respectful thing to do, and it might be useful if the landman comes around wanting to put a pipeline through?

No, it was a marker type with no base. As I recall, there was not base to stand on, just laying flat in field.

While walking a trail made by a muskeg that hydro crews made when installing power line I tripped when my foot caught something lying across the work trail.
It was a 36" HD bolt cutter (Porter Cable brand) probably used by the crew to cut cables.
I still have them (over 40 years)and they are virtually indestructible. (I sure have tested them)
They probably fell off of the rear of the muskeg as it climbed that steep hill.

My friend found a Stihl Chainsaw on his land...

Looked almost new... just weathered from exposure.

He brought it home and cleaned it up... never did figure out how or why it was left there.

I've found an almost full gallon for Stihl Bar Oil and half a pack of oil mix on Mom's property... again... no idea how or why.

I found an ax stuck in the top of a fence post, the handle was rotted to the point that it was half gone. My dad wondered where he left that ax. Took it home and put a new handle in it and over 30 years later I still have the ax. Ed

We used to have an owl around here that made some the most blood curdling screems I've ever heard.......I hope it was an owl.
