Just dropped the 4025 off for the 50 hr. Completed bill? $500.27 This did not include the hydraulics, which the dealer said isn't changed at 50 hr's. SHNIKIES!!

What did they change? That is why I never pay a dealer to do anything.

Engine oil, Oil filter, Outer air filter, Fuel filter, torqued wheels and loader bolts. May have cleaned the hydraulic screen? I'll have to ask when I pick it up Thurs. Dealer is 75 miles away, and I'm working 12s today and tomorrow. Figured I'd let the dealer do the first to ensure the warranty stayed intact.

I did my own 50 hour service - dealer is 30 miles away. I changed ALL fluids & filters except fuel filter. As I remember the bill for fluids & filters was around $400.

Didn't the hydraulic fluid make up for most of that? The dealer didn't change his hydraulic fluid.

Don't change hydraulic fluid at 50 hrs.

I paid $170 for the three filters I need for the MX and I'll buy 5 gal of dello because the truck uses it too so probably be in ~$250 for my 50 hr. Shop time adds up quick when your checking tourque on 75-100 bolts in addition to changing filters and oil.

Only paid for one service ever, never again.

I just paid $2700.00 CDN for brakes and service on my GMC 3500. I am still in shock! I drove cars that didn't cost that much. It's just the age we live in and the devaluation of our currency.

Try and not think of it as OUCH but more like insurance...part of owning tractor. ;)

Not to hijack this post but it was noted that the hydraulic fluid is not changed at 50 hour service even though the hydraulic filter and I believe suction filter are. I'm coming up on a 50 hour service in a couple months on mPower 75 and wondering if it is worth changing out hyd/trans with the filter change even though not required?

I have been to too many dealers who did not do the work but claimed to have done the work and charged be for it.

I try very hard to avoid any dealer.

From my understanding, the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act says that a manufacturer can't void a warranty if you do the work yourself or if you use non-branded like for like replacement parts e.g. filters.

I have no experience but manufactures are extra conservative in their services, IMHO, to give dealers more service business/money. If the manufacturer doesn't recommend it I don't think there would be any benefit at all. I would look at the filters hard for any shavings but that's about all the extra work I would do.

I knew a shop that bragged about getting paid for first oil changes and never did them
He claimed that the oil was still good- so why waste it.
(not a tractor dealer) And not a person that I had much respect for either.
He'd also make warantee claims on every 2nd or 3rd item sold as a matter of course.
Also did not believe in paying taxes. Charged full price for used parts etc.
Takes all kinds.

The only garage I go to is the one that lets me 'in the pits', so to say.
I don't mind helping or dirty hands but sure want someone that digs to find the actual problem and not replace parts until a problem finally gets fixed.

I just looked at the service chart for you tractor. I hope you got reach around. The only thing that needed service @ 50hr is the sump screen. The other stuff was just multi point inspection, bolt torques, fluid top off and lube. 100 hr is you fluids and some filters. I've done lots of 50 hr services. I very rarely have to change an air filter @ 50hr. I'd ask for a copy of the service chart from the dealer and compair it to you bill.

Strongly recommend you see the service chart for you tractor yourself so the work performed is as per Mahindra. Its a hard call as far as changing fluids at 50hr. We all know the idea is to get the particulate from break in out of the trans case. I do see some, very fine, in the pan when I drain it out. most is caught in the sump screen.

I just got a new 2555 this week and upon looking at my maintenance Schedule it states the following are to be changed at 50 hours: Engine Oil, Oil Filter, Transmission oil, Hydraulic oil filter, Oil of the 4wd front axle, and grease each nipple. is there a chance that Mahindra has changed their recommended Maintenance Schedule?

My emax25 hst has the same service schedule (I think they're both tym tractors). Dealer wanted $500, I did it myself in a couple hours for around $150. The only pita was changing the hydro filter.

Does the $500 also include pickup and delivery of the tractor, or was that only for the filters, oil, and labor?
