Pallets in fields

Tassie Devils are scavengers... and right now there's a mouth cancer that's really knocked down their population (poor buggers). They're trying to breed a safe population IOT release back into the wild here but a bunch of them have been nailed by cars as they've been feeding on road-kill themselves. Very powerful, bone cracking, jaws on them. A rare sight now = very sad.

There was a Tasmanian Tiger (thylacine) which was declared extinct in the '80s... but there's still hope (and a reward) that it's not so. The Tassie Tiger is even on our vehicle license plates.
Wag, thanks for the update on 'dem devils. I had no idea.

It is indeed sad about the poor Devils. I saw a TV piece on the mouth cancers several years ago.

Let me get this straight,,, you WANT pallets in your fields? Many of us have extricated the pallets and driven wood takes into the ground in yet questionable locations hoping to never be visited again.

No Tom, I (we) don't want pallets in our fields. We're trying to figure out why inverted V pallets were in a field according to the OP... that same OP who we then never truly heard back from.

There was a report of similar pallet formations in Washington State, a few months ago. That OP said he'd investigate and that thread died a quiet death. VERY mysterious!

I wonder if this is one of the fields in question?

Not all that mysterious. Just a warning they don't want you mentioning them, beware!

Let the record show that I remain skeptical regarding the validity of this so-called "theory." Earlier in this thread I posted this image that debunks the "theory."

Steve

Steve,
You might want to keep an eye on whoever gave you that photo. Something about it doesn't quite seem to be on the up and up.

You guys are so busy with conversation that you didn't even notice that one of those pallets appears to have made a break for it and is nearly in the woods. Once in there, it's gone forever and free to multiply and blend in with the citizenry. It's in the back of the photo near the tree line.

I didn't want to mention the following but I was at a local business and I saw pallets that had been thrown out the back door that appeared to be forming a "V" formation as in preparation for a flight south.

Nope, that just a gate. They are hunkered down cause it's cold and wind here today. Supposed to be in high 70's this weekend here so expect they will continue migrating north.

They are multiplying!! Like rabbits! Lots of them there.

Be careful, they are very crafty shape shifters. There were small square pallets, all orientated the same way in the middle of a field . In the next instant, by the darkness of a moonless night. BAM! a large old sagging, well worn looking gate, appeared in the fence line. Nobody thinks to look at an old gate in a fence line anymore.
It seems that their plan to escape northward was working!

Unfortunately the new Attachment max is 1000kb and I have new photographic evidence of a pallet phenomenon, but can't upload... namely, my horses are physically constructing inverted V pallets in their paddock!

I built their round bale hay rings out of pallets; five pallet sections usually encloses a bale. Once they've finished the hay in the ring, one of the horses (Treat, by name) will pull the ring over with his teeth until there is a distinctive inverted V produced... he'll even orientate it structure so that the V is visible to me from my house.

It's as if to say,"OI! We're all out of hay over here!" Hopefully, I'm not anthropomorphising but, could these pallet structures be an attempt at communication!

Someone should make a movie about those pallets. It might outsell Attack of the Killer Tomatoes.
