John Deere 2013-2015, 5E series brake problem?

   / John Deere 2013-2015, 5E series brake problem? #51
My guess without access to a 5055E tech manual is by tightening/loosening cap screws(parts key 3) note that washers(parts key 5) are spring type.

That did it! Thanks. Much smoother now.

I had looked at JD parts before trying to figure it out but to no avail.

This thread was reason enough for me NOT to buy a 5E series.

Did you have to tighten or loosen to help it out?

I have never had this problem on my '13 5083e. The brakes work fine. I am at almost 500 hours. It has been a good tractor so far...

Loosen.

My setup was a little different actually, not sure if the parts schematic tx jim posted was from an open station or a international model, but my tractor had two bolts that applied pressure on the the spring disks. I loosened both about 1/5-1/4 of a turn and it made a dramatic difference. I could see how from the factory it would be easy to over tighten - not much leeway.

When I posted parts photo I saw no differentiation between OS & cab model for 3 pt control lever. One needs to loosen screws to lower tension and tighten screws to increase tension on control lever.

Edit...meant 5E 3cyl. 5083E is 4cyl and bigger/different tractor.

I would just stay away from all the 5E's. In Canada anyway they are WAY overpriced for what they are. Green Diamond quoted me over 80k for a 5100E, very basic tractor, no powershift, very light duty, nothing fancy. While shopping around it looks like 80-90k will get a much heavier, bigger and nicer 100hp tractor with powershift from Kubota, NH, Case, and MF.

My bad. I saw the 5083E Limited on the list that was posted and assumed that it was included. My previous tractor was a 5045D and it was flawless.

In Texas, JD competes very well. My 5083E was way less than a comparable unit from NH or Kubota. Plus I have a green dealer less than 5 miles from the house.
