WOW!!
How much weight are you towing with that hitch?
Most drop hitch ball mounts like that are rated between 6000-7500 lb.
Pretty rare to bend one of them unless way overloaded.

Take a few steps back and take another pic. I gotta see what that hitch is hooked to.

Couldn't give me a Pintle. Get the proper bar and you will be ok.

Reminds me (decades ago) of when my dad was driving with a pintle hitch towing a caravan (summer vacation '74). We drove over an elevated highway where the surface was constructed in slabs = 'cla-dunk' - 'cla-dunk' - 'cla-dunk'... the end result was not only a bad bend but the bottom of the hitch was throwing sparks!

Yes, a new, heavier hitch was bought & installed before we could continue. :)

if that is a uhaul ball mount check the date code on it and check uhaul for a recall that was issued earlier this year on some of their platforms

Why ? ... I tow a 10k pound skidsteer and the trailer is another 2300. I would never trust a ball hitch.

nothing is heavy duty enough for diamond pilot........how do all these tandem/triaxle dumpers tow these dozers and excavators on tag trailers? launching those boats gets heavy.........

Yeah, I'm curious as well.... wooden bumper? And what's that trailer jack resting on?

The receiver looks like its in a cement rear ballast for a tractor. Safety chain is all twisted and the breakaway cable is wrapped around the chain. That wouldn't work too well if needed.

I towed with them all the time. They are horrible. Clunking around and sloppy. Beat the heck out of you trucks towline.

Why not a ball. I have a setup rated for 18,000#. Ball is actually rated for 25,000# but the hitch itself is only 18,000#

My GN is a ball and rated for 30,000#

Yes it does. We pull house boats in the 40K range and ball hitch boats in the 25K range.

Pintle hitches are sloppy. The clunk around and are hard on the tow vehicle.

You guys really have had such bad luck with pintle hitches?? Or buddy had a trailer with one and we never had any problems. Even when using our mud truck to haul stuff never had bad luck

I use a pintle hitch on my woods trailer. If the ring is too big there is a lot of shucking. Still, I like being able to see the actual coupling of ring and hook. Habit, I guess.

I suspect part of the problem isn't so much being overloaded, but rather picking it up too high with the 3ph. The trailer is far too small to hold enough weight to bend that hitch, if it was used as it was designed to be. When lifted too high, it changes the angle that the force is being applied. Get a new, decent quality hitch and don't pick it up so high. Pintle hitches are made for hauling loads like dozers and such, not an 8'x12' farm trailer.
