Me too! About what year did the last story happen? You must be older than the hills on grandmas chest...lol. :D

Though I said it was 1963. In Nov. I will be 76.

Have quite a few tombstone stories. Moved there in 1946 and lived their durring school year & until joining the Navy in 1957.

Glad all you folks enjoy the stories.

Well nothing exciting to report. Biggest thing is.
I may be a proud parent or grand parent. Mother dove may have babies. Heard her pecking at an egg & think I head some tiny little peeps coming from the nest. The doves mostly ignore me & the dogs. even take little bird naps while I'm there.

Hawk is here most every day or several times a day. 1 Morning he flew under the roof of the deck about 3 feet from me. A day or 2 ago he landed on the railing of the ramp. Mother Bobby was sneaking up on him & gona get him. She got within about 2 feet before he flew away.

Coyote pack was maybe 300 feet south or even closer. Bobby was in the house as was Riley, Bobby barked a little. Riley really cut loose. First time I ever heard her bark. So loud it hurt my ears. Normally she does not bark at anything. Let them out & they charged the south fence & let the coyotes know they were not welcome.

Riley who at first would not get near the the truck, now loves to go for truck rides. Is even good about staying in when I open the door & get out.

When I was about 13 a friend & I were going to make some Big $$$ trapping coyotes. State paid $5 bounty for each one caught. Set several steel traps in a sand wash about 3 miles from town. Checking the traps, there was a little hydrophobia skunk in 1 held by a front leg. I talked to it as I moved closer & closer. It just watched, when close enough I opened the trap. Little guy took its broken leg and started up the wash. My brilliant buddy said we should catch it, & I was dumb enough to agree. Little guy stared up the bank, had my friend get in front of it. AI would sneak up behind it. Slap its tail down so it could not spray. You might say something went wrong. When I got a few feet away it threw a gob of nasty yellow stink right into my eye. Not only did it stink, it burned like He!!. Friend had to lead me 3 miles over rock & cactus hills. Got to town, at a friends house I wanted to wash my eye & face. His dad would not even let me in the yard. Anther 4 blocks or so to my house. A tub with everything tomato related in it, helped. But needless to say I did not have any Close friends for a while.:laughing:

Hi Lady. Thanks for the thought.
Not really a big day any more. Might do nothing or may go to a little local cafe & get a burger & fries or get a nice "T" bone steak to grill. New (3 or 4 months old ) is about shot' real piece of crap.

The excitement goes on & on. Well maybe not any real excitement.

Fall is here for sure. Even built a fire in the wood stove one night. Sure felt good.

Lots of rain & that is very unusual. No big rains all summer, just lots of little ones.
Recently there was a 1.5" rain. Day before yesterday it rained all night, mostly a slow steady rain. Sure was supersized to see it was 3 inches. Biggest rain in 2 or 3 years. Lots of water but very little run off. just big deep puddles, almost wheel deep in places.

Well the doves do have 2 babies. Sure would like to see them when they leave the nest. Quail & most all the birds are sort of missing in action. Not just here but all around the neighborhood. Could be some of the real hard wind storms displaced them. ???????

Will get back to fun & or silly stories later.

Jim
