Mounting a 8.5' snow plow on a SSQA plate

I use a seven ft.rear blade in combination with my 8ft.front.Rear blade works well for pulling snow from door ways ect.
That's my setup too.
R1 loaded tires and no chains.

Just back blading with no weight is not going to work for me.

I have a rear blade but it makes the tractor so Unmanuverable.

You think your tractor is "unmanuverable" with a rear blade, figure out how far out front that SSQA mount blade is going to be, and how much room that will take to turn around.

With a blade hanging off the frame AND the back it is going to be a pain to do what I have to do. BTW the blade will only be 6" beyond where the cutting edge of my butter sits. I would just run the rear blade and no bucket at all, But i dont want to have keep looking behind me

And probably 30" wider than your bucket.

If you angle the bucket cylindeers to give the cutting edge a favorable angle of attack, backdragging won't be as much of a problem as you think, IMHO.

Mounting the blade A-frame solid to the SSQA plate isn't something many users choose or keep for long.

It is, after all, your dime.

Actually the blade is only 16" wider than my bucket. Angled it should only be 2" wider

Mount it using a sliding steel tube. Think a telescope. That will let the plow float and if you tilt the plate forward you can have down pressure too. What ever you do with the plate don't go with 1/4" plate, it's to thin. I have a 1/4" plate on mine and it "smiles" now lol. I'm a actually going away from the plow on a QA plate IDEA and going to a snow pusher. To each his own though!

I can't use a pusher. Driveway is too narrow with a drop off on one side so the plow is ideal

Bradbilt, I'll take a pic of mine today if i get a chance, I have a chain as stated like others for float but I also have a sort of "tube" with a spring at the end, when I apply tilt on my blade, the spring will now catch on a plate i made, causing down pressure for back dragging.

I have a 8.5' Western plow to go on the front of my Ford 260C.
Couple of questions...

1. should I make the plow float? Use a chain to float up and down for the incosistanceqys in the driveway.
Or hard mount it
A. I will need to back blade out from 4 garage doors
B. I will need to do a 1/4 mile long dirt drive along with a 1/4 mile of pavement

2. What size quick attach plate should I be using? I was thinking 1/2" but is that just over kill?
A. my tractor weights 10k and 4wd

I mounted my 7.5' PA blade to a 1/2" QA plate. 5/16 or 3/8 would probably have been OK but I like overkill. I don't use a chain but lower loader arms till blade shoes just touch then plow. Cutting edge on my plow is spring loaded and will trip if solid object is hit. PA cylinders are connected to a cushion relief valve in case an object hit is higher than the cutting edge.
I can use down pressure to back drag but usually the weight of the plow and loader arms in float mode is enough for back dragging. Also have a pusher box for a couple parking lots I plow.

I have a truck plow mounted to a SSQA plate but with a difference. I built a frame to mount the cylinders as far back as possible rear of the plate. I have never liked how far out most tractor mounted blades are. With the loader and snow blower, that is already a very long unit, and now a plow sticking way out the front.

I tried uploading a picture of what I am talking about, but it simply would not work.
