We always just canned our pears. My pear trees have died now.
I've done most of my labor for the day. Got the lawn mowed, volleyball net is up, installed another LED flood light (using the tractor forks and pallet as a work platform), finished the garage cleanup, got tables set up, AC running in the garage, ready to start grilling around 4, guest should start coming about 4:30 and we eat at 5. Not sure how many will show up, usually around 40 or so, but I have around 60 burgers, 28 brats, chicken, and a bunch of hot dogs to grill.
I started my labor day cookout 17 yrs ago, the year after I finished building the house. I had over 100 people show the first year.
Bonus this year is the Ohio State game at 8:00. Have the TV set up in the garage also.
