Does any one know just what the pull coil relay does and how to replace one on a Kioti DK 35? Thank you

What would you like to know? The Stop solenoid has two winding's. It is easy to replace on the front of the Injector pump. The winding's are a pull coil which draws about 28 amps (low resistance coil) for 1 second, driven by the stop solenoid relay on the firewall, (very easy to replace) and the hold coil which draws less than 1 amp and is hooked to the key switch buss. The idea is that the large current needed to pull in the stop solenoid is just needed to get the pole piece (or armature) if you prefer moving, and the small current (high resistance coil) is enough to keep it back. When you turn the key switch off, then the hold coil de-energizes and the solenoid relaxes. There is more of course, as there always is... how much of this diatribe did you understand and how much more did you want?

I am more interested in the Pull Coil Relay. Mine is on the side of the fuel injector as you look toward the engine it has 2 wires connected to it and is round in shape about the size of my thumb. The reason for the interest is if I hookup the wires the fuse to it burns out and the tractor will not crank. Unhook them and the tractor cranked, I did not run it but a sec as I am not sure what the pull coil relay does and if I can run the tractor for any length of time. Thank you for the help, kd5jjp

What you have described is the engine stop solenoid, it is not a relay as such it is a solenoid. It operates the fuel rack inside of the injector pump. This solenoid has two coils and a ground connection, It seems like the older models may have gotten its ground from the chassis of the tractor, but in any case it has two coils. The pull coil, and the hold coil as I described above. The relay that "kicks" the pull coil of the solenoid is up on the firewall, the third relay as viewed in the photo from left to right. The hold coil of the solenoid is energized by the key switch 12 volt "on" buss. when you turn the key off the hold coil de-energizes, and the fuel rack moves in the opposite direction in the injector pump and that stops the delivery of fuel and the engine dies.

here is what I am talking about. From what I have been told the silver item upper right is the engine stop solenoid. I would like to know what the item is that I unplugged is? Thank youtractor pull coil 2.jpg

back to square 1 hooked everything up and tractor cranked. Wondering if the rely you spoke of on the firewall is overheating which would cause the fuse to blow and not crank? this is why I am not a mechanic

The photos show the engine stop solenoid a its associated waterproof electrical connector. The engine stop stop system will not prevent the engine from cranking. It's purpose is to close the fuel rack to stop the engine from running. As for why the fuse blew an now does not, I don't know. Obviously the over current condition has been removed. The starter relay is the first relay on the firewall. And is the same size and configuration as the stop solenoid relay. It's function of course is to provide power to the starter solenoid.

Ok, I replaced the engine stop solenoid, I replaced the relay. Judging by the multimeter it seems to get power. I did not understand the “pull coil” was a separate thing, I was wondering what that was, thought it was a sensor. Here’s a clue, the regular old fuse by your right foot that goes to that (I think) was blown, I replaced it. How much do I understand ( of the wiring diagram, amps volt resistance) I used to think of myself as above average intelligence but every year older I get I keep receiving evidence indicating otherwise. I’ll gladly eat humble pie if it helps me listen to good advice

Or did I misunderstand that? Am I correct in thinking that if the starter solenoid clicks, the tractor cranks, the wire harness to engine shut-off solenoid reads 11.5 v (starting at 9.6v, increases after glow plug shuts off) with multimeter leads in red and black wire slots the solenoid should fire? What’s holding it back? Is the pull coil a separate piece?

If the photo above is the pull coil does anyone have a source for that part?
