Good afternoon all. 75F  this morning at the forecast high of 102F light breeze. Need to mow but SWMBO is napping. Should cool off 5 or 6 degrees this week. Too hot to start brake inspection.

Eric, one of the toughest steaks I ever had was on a birthday in Wales. Maybe it, too, was from a bull? More likely it was just severely overcooked, as there was not a sign of any juice and it was gray in the middle. The only thing tougher that day turned out to be my motorcycle tire. As I left the bike to go into the restaurant I noticed a shiny spot on the tire, and a closer look showed it to be the head of a screw. I didn't want to get all dirty trying to repair it just then, instead waiting until after the meal. When I use a pair of pliers to extract the screw, the expected rush of air didn't follow, and the time honored drop of spit didn't bubble, either. That was one of the best birthday presents a motorcyclist can wish for, and more than fair compensation for a very, very well cooked English fillet.

Not sure if that was plain bad cooking, or you were experiencing part of the charm of the Welsh - a gift some have for of subtly demonstrating that deep down, quite a few hate anyone who isn't also Welsh. :)

A few years back I came to the realisation that many chefs like to cook steaks the way they think they should be eaten, which was often not what I preferred or ordered - not that we we eat out that much. Nowadays I simply select something else from the menu and reserve steak for a rare treat at home.

I think I need tin foil, the radiation goes right through my 15 gallon hat.:cowboy:

Before we were introduced to baseball caps, this was supposedly the traditional English sun hat .

My grandmother was from England, and she cooked all meat very, very well done. Her hamburger's would actually crunch when you ate them!

Ayup! back to the salt mine .
How is the foot coming along?

Actually, much better!!
I think the doctor (podiatrist) misdiagnosed the toe. As I'd written way back when, I broke it a year back...and I think I broke (or bruised) it again. It's pink and fairly warm. Still hurts some...

What do you mean "supposedly" ??
When I was there a few years ago and visiting Bath there was a brass band playing on the band rotunda with a lot of people sitting around on their striped deck chairs with their knotted handkerchief on their heads. Unfortunately the photo (I just had to take it) is on film otherwise I would have posted it here.

Good morning! A report from the morning underachievers
So you are limited to the morning?
I can be an under achiever all day or weekend long.
Don't limit yourself, stretch out procrastination to the point of spousal rebellion.
You'll save thousands of hours of busy work that won't be appreciated anywhere near as much as getting a job done just before she blows with a few well placed hours done just in time.

That's good to hear. You're doing everything you can to get it back to snuff I suppose?
