What sort of idiot trusts a coin more than experienced weather forecasters ? Oh, that would be me, back inside drinking coffee and watching the rain run down the window. I could see it coming over the Welsh mountains, 3 hours earlier than even the forecasters predicted and is probably washing the herbicide off before it can take effect. :(

So pleased it was the coin that decided things and not me, or I would be feeling pretty mad at myself by now. ;)

Good Morning, 59F here in East Central IL. Love the weather when I can turn off the AC in the evening and cool the house down with window fans. Blankets on August 1st morning, how nice. Will watch the thermometer and when outside equals inside, on the AC goes again for a few hours.

Eric, I like the Scott comment, my fathers side came to the US from Scotland in the late 1600's. I guess that's where I get my frugality. Luckily my wife's approach to money is similar.

61 heading to 88. Nice bluebird skies and lower than normal humidity. Feels great.

Buckeye - Congrats on getting the mortgage paid off! Calls for a celebration!

It seems like all of that dealer's cars have the All Weather package. Heated seats probably won't get used much by us either since it will be kept in a garage. I think that would be a nice comfort item for a car parked outside overnight at 10F, but a lot of people use remote starters now to avoid those first 5 minutes of teeth chattering and window scrapping.

When I get a stiff back, I switch the heated seat on and drive around for half an hour. Just have to be careful I don't start smiling too much as the seat warms up, or it gets a little disconcerting to other drivers.

My wife's SUV has heated seats, and I use them all year for the same reason.

Never thought about that. Maybe Sharon can skip a few chiropractor visits.

Good morning! No rain. But I think Kyle got some. A fall like cool 68˚ this morning, Whipper is happy, running in circles and acting like a little puppy. But it is just a tease as this will be the hottest week this year with temperatures over 100˚ every day for the next week.

Z mower ready to go once it rains again. Replaced a defective grease Zerk, replaced blades and power washed under the deck.

Why does the computer forcefully automatically corrects my spelling of Zerk to zero unless I capitalize the "Z"?

The fermented mustang grape bread turned out good but not great. The texture and flavor were very good but I was expecting a more of a sour dough taste.

Here is a pic of the native wild mustang grapes on the side of my drive this year.

The mesquite beans are almost ready to pick. Now what can I do with those? hmmm:stirthepot:

TXDon, I would think that the fermented bread flavor depends a lot on what variety(s) of yeast take over the ferment. The wild yeasts brought in with the mustang grapes could vary from year to year or by location.

There is a several week long procedure for growing your own sourdough starter from regular flour. Even that method doesn't always produce the same flavor though.

70 this morning and headed to 91 today. Been some very nice days. Humidity is going to be working its way back in though.

Walked by garden yesterday on way to work on building and decided that it needed attention before the building. Picked most of a 5 gallon bucket of green beans and a wheel barrow load of sweat corn. Now that's my ugly patch of corn. It had a hard life. It was frosted on in June. Blowed around so much it never set brace roots and root balls are only halfway in ground, and tasseled in 100* weather. I was tickled to get anything out of it. Especially when Thursday evening I walked across the backyard and three masked bandits went scurrying towards the barn. Did get lumber unloaded will be working on building today. Hope to start setting trusses this afternoon.

Buckeye congrats on the mortgage. Always good to be able to get that paid off with kids still at home.

Dave congrats on the car.
