How does your garden grow?

I had work I wanted to get done on my sawmill shed today, but when I got that done, I did dig more of my garlic,

I'm happy with what I dug today, and when I get more time, i'll dig the rest of it...

Good Lord - you guys are already harvesting - squash, garlic, tomatoes---- I just came on to say that my Acorn squash are just about ready to bloom. Hope there are enough bees this year for proper pollination.

I'm on my 2nd planting of most everything. There are blooms on the {3 week old} cucumbers, and the acorn squash are just starting to vine. The peas, melons and Armenian cucumbers are doing nicely. But the hot, dry weather toasted my corn. I'm giving it another week, then deciding if I plow it under and plant again. The three rows that I mistakenly planted between the rows of peas is all that looks worth saving.

Sadly about 3/4 of the cucumbers I transplanted a couple of days ago are burnt to a crisp. And a few of the Armenian cucumbers that looked so good yesterday are toasted too. I'll fill in the skips on Sunday and Monday, as well as putting out the yellow and acorn squash.

I worked on getting cucumber and acorn squash transplanted this morning. I had one cucumber live out of all I did laast week. This time I went to extremes to make sure they had enough water. I hand watered, strung out the soaker hoses, turned on the sprinkler and wished up a soaking thunderstorm. Didn't get pictures, but there are little cucumbers on the older vines, and blooms on the acorn squash.

This afternoon I worked on regular squash and Armenian cucumbers. There are blooms on the Armenian cucumbers I transplanted a couple three weeks ago.

I cut the burnt corn under this morning and planted 6 rows of peas, 4 rows of corn and 3 rows of green beans in it's place. I alternated corn and green beans, trying to use the corn to shade the beans. If they make it that far. This heat is too much for about anything but peas and peppers right now.

Had a nice shower after I planted.

I got soaker hoses laid to the Armenian cucumbers. It was so hot when I was doing it, I turned on the sprinklers. Later on we had a huge down pour. Some of the smaller transplants are covered up. I'll try to dig them out in the morning.

There are almost ready peppers on the sweet banana peppers. Been so busy didn't notice them until today.

As you can see, I "mulch" heavy,

and I have almost zero weeds,

These pepper plants are a bit shorter than last year, but they are still producing nicely,

These are Yukon Golds... I looked under the mulch, they are doing great!

The heavy mulch really cuts down on the watering too....GREAT stuff, well worth the time it takes to put it down!

I didn't think peas liked hot weather. Here in N.H. they're one of the few things we can plant in May.
