NH 469 haybine

HI Folks,
Purchased an old NH 469 this past winter and hope to cut 10 acres of hay with it.
It makes a strange noise when running as if a clutch is slipping. Is that noise normal?
Have not tried it cutting with it yet?

There can be a lot of strange noises coming out of a 469 or 479. Try narrowing it down: once per reel rotation, a blam every once in a while, a rapping noise timed with the wobble box, in the driveline, a sizzling noise when you shut down the pto, a flapping noise from one of the rolls, or a clicking noise from the chains ? How about a phone video of the machine and the noise at its apparent location.

Not sure about your noise but I have a 488 model, and it works great. I did replace all the guards and lots of cutter teeth as well as changing out the gear oil when I bought it.
