Anyone use Rotella T6 Full Synthetic in their LS

/ Anyone use Rotella T6 Full Synthetic in their LS #21
I am not an oil expert and don't know what UOA's are and PDs and TDTs and all that. I don't have an education in motor oil. So, that being said, I have a G3038 that is due for its 50 hour mtc. The book says depending on temps (lets go with spring/fall) to use 15W40, SAE20. I'm trying to find the best oil to produce the proper performance and protection for my machine. I've read that Rotella is a perferred brand and when I saw this thread I thought I'd found what I was looking for, but if T6 is only 5W-40, isn't that too thin? The chart says that even in winter to use 10W30 and summer to go to 20W40. Do you run T6 all year? Also, will this cause warranty issues potentially?

Its not too thin. Actually the 5W helps get oil moving at startup, the most critical time. It then thickens to 40W at operating temp. At least this is my understanding.

When my wife had a MINI Cooper S, it called for 5W-20. Mobil 1 "European Formula" 0W-40 was a recommended substitute. Got the oil moving easier and the thicker oil helped quieten the valve train.

My understanding is just the opposite.
It is a 40W oil that has additives so it doesn't thicken up any more than a 5W oil in extreme cold.

Isn't that saying the same thing? Thin when cold, thick when hot?

No, it doesn't get thin then thicker.
It is a 40W oil that has additives so it doesn't thicken up any more than a straight 5W oil in very cold weather. But it is always a 40W oil.

If 5w40 is better than 10w40 for cold weather start-ups, why don't all manufacturers recognize this and recommend it? How come Kioti for one recommends the 10w?

You are correct it is a 40W oil... When warmed to operating temp. It is a 5W at "room temp" or not engine temp. If it was 40W when at environmental temperature, an it was 20* outside, I'd be surprised if the starter would even turn.

Multi-viscosity oils always read like this. First number is its pour weight (5W) second number is its operating weight (40W). 5W-40 is usually for cooler climates and 15W-40 for warmer.

Y'all saying the same thing. Thin when cold, thick when hot. It is not a 5W or a 40W. It is a 5W-40 oil/additive mix.
