I found a 8' Gannon hydraulic rippers box blade for $600 on Craig's list and am going to look at it tomorrow. I notice it has a wore out blade on back but a new one is $130. It also looks to be modified on the outer lower edges. It looks like it had skid shoes added to it.
I am pretty good at repairing anything I get my hands on so I think I can return it to a stock condition at a fairly low price.
What do y'all think? I am going to try to get it at a lower price than asked if possible.

It looks great to me from what I can see in those tiny pics. The $600 price is about 1/2 (or less) of what it should sell for in decent used condition.

I'd jump all over that for $600, and I don't even have a tractor big enough to handle it. My 6' Gannon will bring my Kioti 50 hp tractor to its knees if I get too aggressive with it.

My 5 foot box blade will easily stall my 6,500 pound tractor. Do you have enough tractor to pull an 8 foot blade? I would still jump on that for $600.

I am running 50 hp also with a gill 6.5' blade, it is a really good blade but it is not hydraulic. I have plans to go to 70+ hp in the future and it would be nice to have a heavy duty hydraulic box blade for it. My blade now is over 1,100 lbs but that one is over 1,300 lbs. I might try it on mine but it may be to much blade.

I'm pretty sure that big monster will overpower your tractor. It probably has a Cat 2 hitch too. Does your tractor have a Cat 1 hitch?

I'd still buy it for $600 without giving it a second thought. Heck, I see flimsy little used box blades for sale on Craigslist for $400 - $500.

Looks real good, if you want it you better hurry. I would pay the $600 and never look back unless it is stolen.

I rotated your pics too.

I'd buy it. If it'll help, here is my review of a 2014 Frontier version of that Gannon. The only real differences are the Frontier is both CAT 1 and Cat 2 quick hitch compatible, and the Frontier has an adjustable rear tailgate. I didn't get into the tailgate in the video, but the folding tailgate allows the box to sink in faster and take out more material in a shorter space before filling up.

FWIW, since I shopped this in the last 12 months, the blade you're looking at new is about $3400-3800.

I'd go for it , picked up my used 76" Gannon missing rippers and the hydraulic cylinder , i was able to use it on my Ford 3000 without to much trouble- although a lite touch helps.

I'd jump ll over it, very good price. I use an LP 3584 on my L5740 and believe that will be a bit much for your current tractor, but will be great for your next one. If you can't use it, there is money to be made and I will be surprised if it isn't before you can get to it.

Nothing more really for me to say except buy it. I doubt that it will be available very long at that price. Heck of a bargain.

I would drop whatever I was doing and go get it. I priced a new 92" wide model with the pin kit and hoses -$3,500.00 I would love to have it behind my T4.95.

I went to look at the blade today and it was not good, at all. The fella that had it runs an asphalt resurfacing company and that is why it has the add on skids on each side. The inside moldboard which you can't see in the picture is a mess as it is almost completely gone on the bottom with no blade remaining on the inside whatsoever, and the mounting holes are gone because of the wear. I offered him scrap metal price which he turned down. Way to much repair needed on it to pay more than that in my opinion, especially since it is not a perfect fit anyway. Thanks for the input and information everyone!

That's too bad. You did make me curious enough to search "gannon" on craigslist in hopes of finding something good. I found a little 4' blade with hydraulic scarifiers listed for $650. It's shown here in case anyone needs a smaller one. Gannon 48" Box Blade Scraper for 3 Point Tractor

I'd buy that little bugger for my BX2660 if it was local. I've never seen a 4-footer with hydraulic scarifiers.

Wow Eric, I can't believe those shanks bent. Think they're the same material as Gannon? I never would have imagined mine bending. Heavy chunk of steel..

I was reading down thru this thread toward the end so I could post that it doesn't look like a bargain to me. Then I got to your post where you had went to look at it. You are a generous man to offer scrap price. You are also a wise man to not jump in with money before looking it over good. Pictures on Craigslist or wherever rarely tell the whole story. :(

I'd need a direct side by comparison to know if the Frontier scarifiers are the same.

Next time I spend quality time with my tractor, I'll try to remember to take a photo of a straight scarifier and take down the measurements and add what I find on the thread I started about hydraulic box blade designs. It would be nice to know if the Frontier can use the Gannon scarifiers and help identify if Frontier is making their own thing, or if Woods/Gannon is making the Frontier commercial box scrapers.

Don't know- I have been using it as is, Still don't have scarifiers or the hydraulic cylinder.

If the need to do scarifier/ripper work arises I use the dozers rippers

As to the part # of the cylinder I do recall someone who was looking into a replacement- but can't seem to find where it was mentioned on TBN... Sorry
