L60 Series Stereo Installation

Thanks. The Farm Radio Supply adapter I purchased came with a printed chart, which provided this detail. It decoded the pin number on the plug to a colored wire on their adapter. I'm not sure if I still have it, but I'll see if I can find it.

If you can, it's probably best to buy the adapter since it plugs right into the factory harness and there's no need to cut anything other than mating it with the wiring harness that comes with your stereo (this is what I did.)

Thanks very much for the quick reply Eric, I really appreciate it and will definitely pick up a Farm Radio Supply Adaptor as it sounds like the solution. We are getting into the double digits up here in Ontario, so it will soon be mowing time and I will want some tunes in the cab. Looking forward to having this installed. Thanks again.

For what it's worth, I went through all my paperwork this morning. Other than locating the receipt, I couldn't find the color chart on the wiring.

While I still recommend using the harness, I seem to remember that the wiring isn't that difficult to figure out once you take the top off. The speak wires will be obvious (since you can trace the wires back to the speakers that come with the cab) then you just locate the constant, switched, and ground wires. (You can do this with either a multimeter or test light.)

I believe there's also 2 unused wires/pins that you don't hook up to anything (they have the wires capped, but I just removed the pins altogether from the plug.)

Thanks Eric, trying to find the 9 pin male connecter locally and not having much luck. I looked at your pics again this morning and am thinking that it would not be too difficult to wring out and determine what is what, if I can't get the 9 pin. Thanks again for all of your help, have a great day.

I believe they'll ship to Canada (also, there's another seller on Ebay with them as well.)

However, I don't believe the plug is anything special. I suspect you should be able to source it locally. After a very quick search on Google, it looks like these plugs are also used on motorcycles, scooters, and ATV's. If you took a measurement of the plug on the tractor, I'm sure you could verify it for sure if it's the same one or not.

I wonder if anyone here has installed a subwoofer in their cab...

I thought about that when I first installed it, but unfortunately, I just didn't have enough free time to figure it out at the end of the season when I did the installation (too many other projects were piling up.) Might be worth revisiting given all the time I spent in the tractor this winter plowing.

Need to think about it some more on where best to mount it since there's really not a ton of free space in the headliner. Could be an interesting project though.
