Android app issues

So the unfortunate reality about Forumrunner (our app developer) is that development of the app as well as bug fixes slowed considerably when the founder of the company sold to Internet Brands.

We're considering a couple of options to provide a better mobile experience, the most likely being a mobile version of the site.

Right now about 30% of our traffic is mobile and only a tiny portion of that is through the app. I suspect that would go up with a mobile theme/responsive design.

It's on my to-do list to address over the next 4-6 weeks.

Yes thanks for the update. From my experience here.... I know you do dang good job with this forum.....and knew you would address this.

I use Chrome on my android. It works ok, but no easy way to upload photos that I know of. Anyone know how?

This is a limitation of your mobile device. That's part of the reason we went with a mobile app. With a mobile style, you can't upload photos from your mobile device.

I can upload photos on my Samsung note 3 basically no different than using my computer. What phone do you have?

Chrome on the tablets (i believe the note uses this version which) is a slightly different browser than than the phone version. It wont work on my s4 in chrome however i belive will work from dolphin though.

I use Tapatalk for a couple of other forums, but I can't find TBN on there. Is it in a secret location?

Thats weird i tried last night with chrome to get this to work but it wouldn't load this popup the screen would turn gray for a few seconds and then return to the page. It seems to work today

I will say, there is one thing with your forum I hope we do NOT lose...is the restart of a thread you have already viewed at the point you left off. Many forums do not do this, and I consider that a shame, since I find that one of the many things about this forum that is really nice, besides all the knowledgeable people on it.

Isnt that is something that Tapatalk does poorly (at least, it does poorly on the sites I use that have tapatalk)?

Ah. Hopefully that is the case. An app that doesn't mark threads as read (or remember what ones I have read) would be useless to me.

I use tapatalk for weldingweb and garagejournal, and I will say that ww works much better for keeping track of where you left off.

I will also add that I am a member of a photography forum and it uses the same app as tbn, but does not seem to have the problems that tbn has.

I use Tapatalk for a pile of other forums. Not a huge fan of the past few Android apps, but its not to bad. Previous versions were great. They are still very actively updating & maintaining it, which is good. I'd be a lot happier with it than what we have now.

Most don't, but i do visit some other forums that do..... in fact one of them does use Tapatalk.
