shorten snow blade

I finally got my bx 2370 with 60" deck, grass catcher and 54" snow blade. When ordering the snow blade, the spec sheet said the blade would be 47" when angled. Which I thought would be fine with the sidewalks at my housing complex are 48" wide. No room for error or making turns. My question is this. I want to cut 3" off each side of plow. Can this be done without compromising the integrity of the blade and what would be the easiest way to do this? TG 2754 was the smallest blade I could get for the 2370.

Angle grinder, cutting torch should work well too. Plasma would do the neatest job. Mark it, use protective gear and do it. Look around youtbe for examples. Take it to a welding shop- they could get it done quite easily.

Yep, mark it and use an angle grinder, take your time, make sure your grinder has a good spin on it.

I would go the angle grinder route as well.Mark it out good.Use zipcut wheels and take your time.Don't try to make the full cut in one pass.The first pass is only light to score the metal.Then carefully make more passes until the cut is complete.A little clean up with a sanding wheel and you are good.

You do realize that once you cut it down, it won't clear a path as wide as your tractor when angled? Just hard to imagine how useful it will be after cutting it down, but your blade, your choice.

You loose about 20% of the width of the blade when you angle it to a good plowing angle. try it out for a bit before you cut it to make completely sure its what you actually want to do.

^^ THIS. keep in mind that the wear edge may not be easy to cut with something like a small angle grinder. you may need a different cutting solution there. or replace it with a poly edge (might be better for sidewalks anyway)

That is true for the angling of the blade- 20% of 54" is roughly 10" (You were planning to cut 3" from each side). Angle the blade and it might just be perfect. Pushing the snow is harder than pushing it to the side.
If you do cut it, an angle grinder will have no problem with the cutting edge. Just might need a few more passes. Use eye protection.
I use a 7" angle grinder, never used a 4" grinder.
