Tractor
John Deere 5065E
Ryan here from Central Texas. I recently had a new john deere 5065E delivered and am pretty new to tractors in this size range. Already put about 10 hours on it in 2 days. This tractor will be used quite a bit and I am sure I will have lots to share and lots of questions! Looking forward to speaking with you.

To the forum from Alabama. What size tractors did you have before?

Thank you! I have a garden tractor too. So this one is quite a step up for me. I am simply amazed how quickly I went through 4 acres of cutting with the 6' cutter. Wish I could say I didn't need the garden tractor anymore but the 5065E is just too big to get everywhere and with the ballast in the tires it makes quite an impression with the R1 tires.

I know exactly what you mean. I had to keep my 21hp garden tractor also for close work around the house and still need my dump trailer for it.

Yup same here. I have about 3-4 acres that circles the house that if I drove this tractor on it would not only tear the turf up it would probably collapse the sewer drains as well. lol.

I don't have that problem with the clay here. In fact I have brought the big tractor up next to the house to drop some old dead trees and other things. The problem I did have was that the cutter threw a rock through the dinning room window from about 1500 feet away.

lol. Wow, that is downright impressive. Yes I can see those cutters producing some projectiles. I dented the inside top of my cutter pretty good when it hit a rock the other day.

When I broke a blade one day, the tip of the blade put a small hole in the side of the cutter. I had to beat it back into shape.

I hope I don't do this for a while... My RC2072 is brand new and I already put a sizable dent in it. 10-15 acres of my property has rocks by the thousands sitting right on the surface. I got a rock bucket coming to make a dent but it will take a while.

I can't imagine what a broken blade flying at mach 2 would be like... Good reminder of safety for me.

Witch rock bucket are you getting? I have been looking at a rock rake myself.

I am getting the the Frontier AR10E 66 with the 3" tine spacing. I *think* its just a rebranded bradco 66 which has them for skid steer mounts too. It has the the round tines instead of the flat steel so its stronger and smaller rocks/dirt will not catch as easy.

A rock rake I would like too.. :)

Ryan-- A big East Texas welcome. This is a great place for all kinds of info. Pay special attention to the treads on Safety. With the bigger tractors you can get in trouble in a hurry.

We need to see some pictures of your new beast. Here at TBN with no pics it never happened.

Thank you. Yes I am taking things extra slow. I have already seen the power of the loader try to roll the tractor. I am a pilot too and running this tractor is similar to me in how much you have to think ahead.

Speaking of the beast, here it is fresh off the truck:

RyanTX--Good looking tractor. It will look even better when it's a little dirty. Is that the only color they had?LOL.

Heh. Oh it's already dirty and scratched. Tires were packed with mud on Saturday as I worked through the rain.

I have to order some of that green paint and quickly! :)
