Actually I was refereeing to the OP's title. "Upstate" is one of those words, like "liberal", "conservative" or "God" that means something different to different people to the point it's a word with no meaning.
Aaron, sounds like your right in the snowbelt.

We are far enough south that we are out of the large snowbelt coming off of Lake Ontario, but we still get a decent amount of snow.
