Nope ......I am just open minded enough to realize that a variety of power plants is a good thing not a bad thing and Ram did not put out a pickup truck to tow a building........they have their Hemi's for that........they were providing a new option that no one else had...........kudos to them

Not showing much open minded behavior here with 4 power plant options available in the F150. What has soured your mind with the F150?

I like your style.

It's funny watching some folks who are obviously biased do everything they can to discredit Dodge. Tom already claimed that both testes were rigged and that he didn't think the 1,000 pounds shown on 1 test was actually 1,000 pounds. Other said it wasn't on a grade, which was later proven to be incorrect. Others claim the axles will snap and truck will collapse if loaded with more than 1,000 pounds. All because they are threatened by the eco diesel.

I'm not in the conspiracy dog fight but are you saying the Ram wasn't technically overloaded with 1,000 lbs of weight in the bed? I didn't see where it beat either truck in any of the events they held other the MPG and even then it costs more per mile to drive with current fuel costs. What advantage does the Ram bring to the table? Best ride and interior? Obviously other factors are more important to some.

Yeah, know one cares about ride or interior, as long as their truck will pull 10,000 lbs up Billy Bob's grade faster than an other maker.

Well the Dodge won both of the comparisons over the Ford so obviously there must be something good about it. I'm sure you are capable of reading the articles and figuring it out.

My guess is that there is some technical reason the Dodge has a low payload rating, not because the air bags and axles snap as soon as you put 1,000 pounds in it. And not because the truck doesn't have enough power to pull a load. I think guys with fat wives are scared off by the low payload rating but to be honest when I drive around looking at pickups most are empty so I'm not sure it really means a whole lot to the average owner. If someone is looking to do a lot of heavy towing there are better options out there, for a guy who rarely tows and hauls things like golf clubs, lowes shopping trips, luggage, weed eater, grocery trips, etc.... The truck is perfect. The reality is that many people who own pickups don't tow trailers on a regular basis. Truthfully many don't even need a truck but want one.

If you like the Ford great. If you like the Dodge, great. But the folks who jump on every thread to argue and bash other brands need to stop. Seems like they are also the ones who exaggerate and make ridiculous claims about trucks that never break down or how their ecoboost tows as well as their older diesel dually. We are all smart enough to do a search and uncover some of the problems with the eco boost and I have no doubt that there will be similar hiccups with the new engine in the Dodge. Just part of the deal when new engines are released.

What I'd really like to see is a Natural Gas pickup. There are some factory cars setup to run NG but a truck would be really nice. Fuel prices can be substantially lower so cost per mile would blow all the other trucks away. But for now I am looking forward to the Nissan/Cummins combination. Ford guys better get ready to start bashing on Nissan.

I find that interesting as well. Many of these tests they do will never happen in the real world simply because people don't drag race up hills with trailers. 1/4 mile times? I have never once sat and wondered if my truck would beat another truck in a 1/4 mile drag race, its' just not what I use it for.

So how often does the average truck owner put the pedal to the metal on your truck and give it fill throttle? I might get on it for a few seconds passing on a 2 lane highway but beyond that I never give it 100% throttle so how it performs at full throttle is really all but meaningless.

To me dependability and mileage are the most important factors to consider. I'd buy a truck with 100 hp if it would never ever break down and got 40 mpg. Could care less how fast it is in the 1/4 mile.

As for the question Jejeosborne asked "What has soured your mind with the F150? "
I would answer that question but when we do we get our posts flamed....so maybe lets just say that it seems like there is a higher propensity for some of the owners of Ford Pickups to be arrogant and exaggerate..........and I prefer humilty ...I actually like their engines (except ecoboost problems) had a 302 V8 in my driveway for many years, the rest of that one fell apart though. ... and my son in laws front end problems , and brotherinlaw 6.4 Diesel problems , but another brotherinlaw has one of those Ford Rangers that just keeps running and running ....so not soured just careful.

I did read the article and that is why we are questioning the results. As you say they obviously found something good about it but just failed to report those items. Most of the results were not in the Rams favor yet they choose it and that is what confuses me.

My wife weighs 110 lbs which definitely dispels the fat wife theory that you have conjured.

I agree but find it somewhat fun, entertaining, and educational in regards to the banter. What fun would it be without opinions. Heck, your first post shows you enjoy it as well.

I just love checking on on these threads for stuff like this. I didn't go back all the way but I expect some more from the Ford folks like Diamondpilot are in this thread.
