Good morning! 33˚ going to 50˚ no wind, mostly clear skies - a bright day. Ron, Sunday will be close to 80˚.

Murphy1244 thanks for the duck id.

Dave1949 no solution to the florescent light, I can only think to find another fixture and replace it again. The other ballast was rated 7.2 to 8.2 amps and the new one just 7.2 amps. and the ballast was a bit smaller but still if they sell the fixture and the bulbs together at Lowe's you expect them to work with 110/115 electricity (meter checked) coming to them. The florescent fixture next to the new fixture it is working fine and it is on the same electrical line.

Don't know what you have in the US but here in Canada it is really hard to get T12 ballasts anymore. Everything is switched to T8 lamps and ballasts. If you bought the ballast and lamps seperately and not as a kit, make sure the ballast matches the type of lamps you have. T8 lamps are smaller in diameter then the old T12s are.

Good Morning. 1000, sunny, 39F with 55% humidity. Forecast high of 48F with 0% chance of rain this afternoon, and a low of 23F tonight. Our low was 29F @ 0600.

I have my cardio and breakfast done. Now I'm waiting on it to warm up a little before I go out and drip the outside water spigots. There are several of the brass 4 spigot attachments still on in the garden, so all of them will have to be removed and the hoses drained, rolled up and put away. I have all the soaker hoses done already, but hadn't got around to the hoses. Then I will be doing my weekly shopping run to Marianna.

At the Civic Center we are in the process of changing out all the old lights to T5 and T8. They are brighter and use less power, but what I like about them is they make less heat also. In a big room like the Ball Room, we have a lot of lights, so there was a fair amount of heat made by the old lights. Our Electrician explained that you just need one ballast for four lights instead of two with the old lights. I also heard it was getting harder to find replacement parts on the old lights. But on the bright side, I now have 200 or 300 tubes, so I won't be buying any anytime soon.

You guys stay warm and safe.

15F with very bright sun (only seems like it is due to the snow) @ 12:00 ...

I was woken up by a cat crawling on me ...

Having my first cup and watching the Tweeties while I try to wake up. Suet cage needs refilled and the thistle feeders are almost empty.

I'd imagine the fire is out in the shed ... only question is how cold it is in there ...

Did you read the directions?

How about upgrading to an LED fixture? I have some "daylight" spectrum bulbs I'm trying out and I really like the light they produce.

Of course I read direction - as a LAST resort, but no enlightenment.:D This one fixture is in a kitchen recessed area where there are 4 fixtures in a row and I just bought 8 bulbs so I don't want to have to switch to LED when All I have to do is get one $20 fixture that will work. I did buy the bigger bulbs, my parents had bought the smaller bulbs and they just flickered. So I got three working good I guess 75% is passing.

If another one works on the same circuit and switch, the wiring is likely to be okay. Did you read the directions?

Blasphemy!!!! :)

If it a new style electronic how do I know and why does it not work?

I do not know, but If I buy a florescent light fixture, all new, from Lowe's and put in the Florescent light tubes sitting right next to the fixture shouldn't the light work? I would think so. The same lights put in the other three fixtures all work. Dad says 75% is ok, but I will try one more time with a fixture from a different place.

Good Morning!
Do I get credit for beating Roy for first post of the morning?

Well I cheated, I had a late night event in DC at the Capitol Club working my part-time self employment gig.

I will say that once again I did get to shake hands & say hello with Skunk Baxter (let's see who knows who that is...)... But that is all I can say...

I got home about midnight and it is supposed to get cold so I re-lit the wood stove (or tried to) I'd been gone almost 12 hours...

All my wood seemed damp from the rain all day and it took 35 min to light the stove...

I've got 2 swallows left on my Yuengling Black & Tan and the Jalapeno Cheetos are gone, so I'm off to bed in (gulp) one more swallow...

I had 2 job interviews today, got another tomorrow, who knows, something will happen someday...

Be well all,
David

PS - Buppies, thank you for asking about me sir...

Jeff Skunk Baxter, I remember him from the Doobies and Steely Dan. Great guitarist. I admit that I don't collect music like I did in my teens. I always tell young 'uns that I remember when people actually sang music instead of rap (crap).

At 2055 it's down to 28F. I wish we could stick with normal weather, like the tornadoes. Here is a couple of pictures Margie posted to Face Book from the prison after the twister yesterday morning. She was supposed to speak at a luncheon there tomorrow, but it's been canceled. The officers who were hurt were waiting in their cars for the shift change. None of them were hurt too bad. The convicts are still in lock-down, and will stay that way until the fence can be repaired. Tornado Damages Calhoun Co. Wow, those guys were lucky they didn't get hurled up higher in the air. Powerful wind.

The rear servo operated spoiler on the Bugatti veyron has more braking force at speed than the actual brakes have.

19F. It's been cooling down all afternoon from 33F this morning. We are on the edge of the cold area.

Those tornadoes do make a mess. It's always fortunate when injuries remain low.

Our older dog is not doing well tonight. He's gotten progressively weaker in the hindquarters over the summer. It something similar to muscular dystrophy where muscle mass continues to slowly disappear.

This afternoon his right rear leg slipped in the snow and splayed out. He hasn't been able/willing to walk since. The other rear leg isn't strong enough to really help by itself. We rolled him onto a blanket and got him inside that way. We're hoping to see some improvement in the morning--if it is pulled tendon or muscle. If not, we'll be off to the vet for some x-rays.

I can move the leg through its normal range of motion and massage without him hurting, so I hope it's a soft tissue thing. It only seems to give him pain when he tries to put his weight on it. He is a bit of a baby about things that hurt, or even might hurt. :) Up until now he has been pain free, happy, alert, eats well, no digestive issues, and always ready to go out for a walk even though we could see him declining and his rear feet stumble and trip now and then.
