On the pictures, you might try setting the quality to 640x480 and/or turning on remote thumbnails.
I suspect what happens is the app tries to download all the pictures in the thread when you click on a picture, not just the one you tried to view and that is bogging things down in the background.

Same here. Less likely to fail on the photos, but its still failing.

Here is a screenshot of a missing thumbnail & photo. I know this one was working an hour or so ago, but not now.

I just loaded this thread on my app and it's working fine.

We had previously worked with the developer to diagnose photos not loading and ultimately found that it wasn't the app malfunctioning but rather connection issues.

Can you go and try to load the thread again on your app and see if the photos load now? Also check your network connection speed when these issues are happening.

Its not connection issues IMHO.

I experience the thumbnail problem on both WiFi (3' from the Router, High Speed Cable internet) and 4G LTE (3 "bars")

I concur. I'm generally on pretty good networks & an IT guy for the past decade, so am pretty sensitive to network issues.

As of right now the "Open Browser" option is still putting an extra / in the URL & the bottom half of the icons at the bottom are still cut off.

I just went to the thread http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/build-yourself/323978-snow-plow-build.html in the TBN app on the last page & every thumbnail was grey. When I click on at thumbnail it has some kind of corrupt or grey plaid looking tiny icon a the top & never loads the actual picture. Click "Open browser", remove the extra / & the whole page loads with thumbnails in 1-2 seconds. Clicking on a thumbnail in the browser loads the full photo in about 2 seconds.

When I changed Attachment Quality to 640 (where it is now) things got a little better, but not much.

I just went & did the clear image cache option. Thumbnails showed up & the image eventually showed up. Still have the weird grey plaid thumbnails over the image though. I've done this before & things end up working for a bit, but quickly stop working again.

If the developer is saying it's a connectivity issue, he might be partially right. His app needs better error handling & retry capability though.

Any updates? Haven't seen any changes or heard anything in quite some time.

I'm also suspecting a lot of the double post problems have a similar root cause. My app will sit here with the thinking screen forever. If I hit back, then post I get a double post. Back then refresh it loads the thread with the post it indicated it was still waiting to post.

It all points back to improper timeout handling or the like by the developer. I'm pretty darn sure its not a connectivity issue as I and most of the others get this issue on different conditions, even with great connectivity.

And it still doesn't explain the black bar that covers up half of the icons on the main screen.

Yes please improve this droid app. IPhone app is so much better. I wish I could see and zoom the pictures. I would be willing to pay for a better app. Also the app doesn't refresh automatically which is annoying.

I concur there are other services to make a forum Web accessible. However I just go to my tapa talk forums knowing this isn't going to give me the full experience.

One thing that might help, would be to go to the Google play store and leave comments.
If they get enough comments stating all of the problems maybe the developer will fix it.

Yes, it's a bit strange in the user experience but hopefully they adjust the design. Forumrunner seems to be dead in the water so it's not a good solution.

I'm using pc less and less... smartphone and Android app more and more. Thinking of getting a tablet...... BUT the powers to be on this forum need to fix this android hit/miss issues of viewing pictures.

Just checked in here to see if there are any updates on the droid app. I have it installed on my Samsung G4, but don't use it anymore. Looks like they might have a Tapatalk app, or are those comments just general dissatisfaction on Tapatalk? Anyway, when I do browse TBN via smartphone, I just use Chrome. It takes a little work to re-size a page once you load it, but everything is there - user Avatars, on-line / off-line notifications, signatures, and even PIC's, which you can click on and re-size to actually see. Not ideal, but I've had it with the TBN droid app. It's a total failure. Seems to be no priority for them to fix it despite all the complaints.

Nope, no updates in 6 months. Every single bug noted is still there.

I'd mentioned Tapatalk not sucking & being a good option. Although the recent version of Tapatalk sucks bad, so confusing, cluttered & disorganized compared to how it use to work.
