Tractor
Kubota BX25DLB-1
This is my 1st post on the forum, but I don't consider myself a newbie! I've been hiding in the background until I got my new tractor.
Here is my issue/question...
I have 30 hours on my new BX25D and I have broken 3 loader pins. I have run equipment for years, and previously owned a NH TZ25, and have never broken anything on a tractor before. I am not running the Kubota and differently than I ran the NH or the Case CK48 that I have thousands of hours on. Is this a Kubota loader (LA240) issue or is it my issue?

Kubota part "Loader Pin #8"
All 4 pins have a hole in one end that the bolt goes through.
There are 4 pins on the FEL, 1 above and 1 below the cylinder and one on each end of the loader arms.
It's the two outside pins that connect to the loader arms that are breaking.
Nope-didn't bother to take a picture.

Sounds like the cylinders have too much travel or the wrong ones were installed.
Perhaps some internal limiters are missing.

Breaking a loader pin takes some serious stress. This is a brand new tractor - I would definitely let the dealer handle this situation.

Did the pin shear or break at the bolt hole?

What were you doing when they broke?

Pictures would help.

Is it like this one?

Yes, that is the loader, and the pin shears right in the middle. I spoke to the dealer and they said they had never seen it before, and especially not 3 pins on the same tractor. They didn't offer to look at it but they did give me 2 replacement pins.

Unreal! I would drive over to check it out if I was the dealer. :banghead:

Breaking in the middle is a new one. We did just have a fellow come in and complain on a larger Kubota but his problem is his help, not greased, pins were dry, sheared the bolts to hold the pins in.
I'd say yours is a alignment problem. Bucket or boom is out.

The loader cylinder was replaced at 7 hours, it exploded internally.
I broke one before the cylinder was replaced and 2 were broken after.

The tractor had 7 hours when the 1st pin sheared, and I greased the new one that I put in, so lack of grease or rusting is eliminated.

What was their explanation for the internal exploding of the cylinder?
What are you lifting with your loader? What ballast do you have on the rear?
Where did you buy your tractor?

wow......a cylinder and 3 pins !!! Does your pressure relief valve work? Sounds like it might not.

check this thread......

Agreed, something is clearly wrong and not functioning. Pressure relief sounds like it. Be prepared for more damage until the cause and not the results of the problem are fixed. If it were mine I'd call the dealer, ask them to pick it up and fix it under warranty- right away. They have treated the symptoms; exploded cylinder and broken pins, NOT the cause, overpressure to the extreme.....

They never gave an explanation, their technician had a new cylinder with him when he made the trip to my land. There were cylinder parts at the quick coupling so the tech changed the fluid, filter and screen on site. What are you lifting with your loader? What ballast do you have on the rear?

The only ballast was the hoe, I do not remember a specific moment that the loader cylinder exploded, it just lost all lifting power and would only hang limp.

So, what's your plan to remedy this? Do you think you can get them to pick it up for you? Or will you need to haul it yourself? Any reason you didn't use Giddings or other VT dealer?

Those little loaders are designed to lift 500 or 600 lbs and maybe curl with 1,000 lbs of force or thereabouts. There's almost no way to explode cylinders and break pins in ordinary, reasonable use unless something is seriously wrong with the hydraulics. Presuming that you're not bashing it into trees or boulders, etc., the dealer tech needs to go through the hydraulics before it causes more damage. Remember the HST is part of that same hydraulic system and would be a much more serious repair than the FEL parts.

Are the pins drilled for a grease fitting? Is there a groove for grease distribution?

I will call the service manager on Monday, they didn't charge me mileage to replace the cylinder so I doubt they will if they come back up. Time will tell.
I bought from Townline because they gave me 2K more on trade in. My camp and tractor are in the North East Kingdom of Vermont.
