2008 Jinma 284 Maintenance Info

Hi Folks.

Does anyone have accurate info on the filter types (NAPA, WIX, etc.), fluids (weights, etc.) and plugs that a 2008 Jinma 284 tractor with a front loader uses/requires.

I getting ready to do a full maintenance run on mine for the first time (bought a year ago) and I have several conflicting sources of info.

Any help would be appreciated.

Has anyone got a list of the correct fluids to use in this machine.

I know it uses the following:

10W-40 Diesel Oil
Standard Anti-Freeze in a 50/50 mix
Lithium or Molybdenum Grease

I need to know the following:

Hydraulic (2.5 Gallons) - Good quality 'lightweight' fluid?
Transmission/Transfer Case - Standard or Tractor Hydraulic Fluid? (I have sheet that says 80-90W Oil) (Don't know capacity)
Front Axle - Same as Tranny? (I have a sheet that says 80-90W Oil) (Don't know capacity)

Also, can anyone tell me if I have an "Injection Pump" and where it is located. My understanding is that it uses ISO 100 Compressor Oil. If it's what I think it is, it sets below and behind the alternator.

Erj sent me a filter list that looks about right. I'm not sure of the air filter yet. I'll know when I get it in on Thursday.

Once I can get a complete list of filters and fluids that are correct, I'll be more than happy to post it here for anyone else.

This my first time doing this or any tractor, so I am a little uncertain on some of the things. Everything pretty much looks straight forward.

AW-32 in mine, might have to go a bit lighter if it's really cold or change it depending on the season. Cold weather I just let mine run a bit to warm it up and it's good to go. Can't swear to the quantity as it's been awhile since I changed mine but i thought it was closer to 5 gallons I could be wrong tho.

80-90 gear oil, again I remember buying a 5 gallon pail but it might have been a bit shy by the time I did the front and read diff

80-90 gear oil, make sure you get all three drain plugs and make sure the vents are clear. The oil will flow across from one side to the other, make sure you allow enough time to be sure you have the correct amount.

Also, can anyone tell me if I have an "Injection Pump" and where it is located. My understanding is that it uses ISO 100 Compressor Oil. If it's what I think it is, it sets below and behind the alternator.

As ERJ posted, that's the pump. Let the engine warm up a bit and drain it from both drains and fill it from the vent. Leave the rubber cap off the over flow till you see the oil coming out, wait until it stops and you're good to go, be sure to replace the cap. Engine oil, 15W-40.
I was just told a couple of days ago that Belarus uses the same injection pump and the common weak point on them was people not changing the injector oil as it`ll get contaminated with leakby fuel and ruin the pump. For the sake of a few ML of oil I do mine between oil changes even tho I don`t smell fuel......Mike

Thanks for this info. I hadn't even seen anything about this pump until I caught a hint of it on some chart or something somewhere. Sometimes ya just get overloaded with too much info that isn't needed.

Don't take that wrong, you and erj have been a great help and I think I've got a good lock on everything now. Now it's just to get all the parts and the time to do it all in one fell swoop.

That is a fuel pump. The braided line goes to the fuel injectors.

Nothing in any of the manuals I have gotten or downloaded said a thing about it, much doing an oil change.

OK, so I go to get the 80W-90 Oil at AutoZone and now I find out that there are different service classifications.

Valvoline: API SERVICES GL-5, GL-4 and says: Recommended for all hypoid differentials (conventional & limited slip) and manual transmission in passenger cars, light trucks, sport utility vehicles, vans & heavy-duty trucks where an API-GL5 or MT-1 fluid is specified and is for High speed, high torque & high horsepower conditions.

Coastal (AutoZone): API Service Classification GL-5 and recommended for use in passenger cars, light duty trucks and sport utility vehicles. Limited slip applications for top-off only.

MasterPro (O'reilly's): Multi-Purpose GL-5 Gear Lubricant is a premium quality, heavy-duty, extreme pressure, multi-purpose gear lubricant formulated with high quality refined base stock and a premium additive package to impart extreme pressure, anti-scuff, anti-wear, and anti-weld properties to the finished product.

So, I'm sure I'm over thinking this. Is there anybody that can tell me which one is right or best?

Any of them is fine. Only thing you have to watch using GL-5 in other applications that call for GL-4 is that it's not yellow metal safe, it'll chew synchronizers up, since we don't have 'em we're fine....Mike

GL-5 is the winner then. Coastal is definitely cheaper.

Actually, being **** I did find that informative and saved it.

A couple of more questions and I think I'm good.

1. Have you heard of ISO 100 or 1000 Compressor Oil? A sheet from Keno Tractors recommends that for the Injection Pump.

2. You mentioned AW 32 for you hydraulic unless it's cold. It gets cold here. Again the Keno sheet says Mobil H46-20wt. Have you heard of this?

Like I said, I can get **** over this stuff. Mostly because my budget doesn't allow for costly mistakes on my part.

I have put together a Word Doc/pdf file of parts/fluids, etc. I am now trying to figure out how to attach it for others to see/use.

Do you know how I can get it up to the forum?

I think comp oil is non detergent so I don't have any thoughts on that portion. As for why I use engine oil, I have it when I'm changing the oil so I don't have to carry a separate oil.
People use anywhere from 10 to 68 oil, it gets cold here also, -10 to -20c during the winter. I use 32 because its mid range, like I had said, a few minutes of running and I'm good to go albeit easy at first but after 10mins max it works like it does in the summer.

Thanks quicksanfarmer. That is helpful. Don't take this wrong, but between mrmikey and you, I now know more about oils that I thought I ever would and realize that I didn't know as much as I thought I did.

Gets that cold here to Mike. With that chart from quicksandfarmer, I'm kinda thinking the 15w-40 too. I take it you haven't had any problems with it.

Here's another question: According to the chart link from quicksandfarmer, does AW32 equate to 10wt?
