How many grease points are there on the BH77?

I counted 21 this time around but swear I've found 22 in the past! :)

Thx

I count 22 on my BH77.

The two boom swing cylinders have only one grease fitting (on the rod end). The trunnions, where the swing cylinders mount, don't seem to have any grease fittings or lubrication points at all. I realize there's not a lot of movement there, but there is some. Am I missing something here? Shouldn't these points be lubed too?

It is a game Kubota plays......see if you can miss a zerk and it will be the one that fails! I have a BH65 and I have the same problem especially after a long winter!

Book says to hit them every 10 hours....man you are right there are a billion of them.

This is a bump for my question . . . anyone with a BH77 know what's up with no apparent grease fittings for the swing cylinder "trunnions" (where the cylinder mounts to the hoe frame)? Anything I can't grease I worry about.

I have the BH76 and it does not have grease fittings for the swing cylinder trunnions. I wonder the same but never remember to ask my dealer.

Back to the original question, I greased yesterday and counted carefully, 22 zerks.

My B26 has 28 but 4 of those are on the hydraulic thumb, so normally it would be 24. I have two on the back of the swing cylinders. They are accessed from extended nipples that are just under the platform and have tubing running back to the trunnion connections. They aren't easily seen if you aren't looking for them. I think you guys should look closely as there should be grease fitting for the backs of the swing cylinders just like on mine.

Well, there is no movement in the trunnions. I looked at mine this afternoon. The cylinder rods move out and back in a straight line. No movement in the trunnions. :dance1:

Beckworth,

No offense, but that is not correct*. If you look at the swing cylinder you'll note that the rod end is attached to an arm sticking out a 90 degrees to the boom arm when the boom is "centered". As the swing cylinder extends or retracts, that arm transcribes an arc, and in doing so, the cylinder will move, rotate, a few degrees on that trunnion. No, it's not a lot of movement, but it IS rotational movement at the trunnion, and as such there has to be a bearing surface, bushing or bearing or whatever. On my BH77, there are no zerks (even at the end or underneath or connected with hoses :c( , nada. So, it might be designed as a dry bearing surface I reckon.

*Disclaimer - it is possible, of course, to design a boom swing mechanism that requires no movement of the ram cylinder, though those won't generally be mounted on trunnions and will be fix mounted. The ones I've seen use the ram to pull/push roller chain and that takes care of what would otherwise require some radial motion.
