Front fenders?

Anybody know where to get some front fenders? I'm cool with making my own mounts if necessary but it occurred to me that by the time the snow flies, I better have a set on my NX.

You don't see front fenders on most tractors in the US, but it's fairly common in Europe.

If Kioti sells in Europe, you might find a factory set you can import. That would probably be a neater installation.
Otherwise, looks like you make or modify your own...as George wrote, look at trailer fenders. Even if Kioti fenders aren't available, good chance you could find another brand's fenders (Deere is a good possibility) and modify those.

I asked my Kioti dealer the same question,his answer was no one he knows makes front fenders for kioti tractors.I think Kioti is missing the boat on this one.

I have front fenders on my JD X740.IMHO the keep the sand/dirt from getting on the deck.I see JD has them for the larger tractors also.

I think I've learned why fenders are rare in the states.

Granted, Lodi fenders look nice but $550 to $600 for fenders?

Front fenders were more common among the higher HP 4WD tractors at one time, but in most applications they add to the already limited turning radius and if your running front duals it defeats the purpose anyway. Most guys around here that had them, have already taken the off. Personally, I don't like them as they interfere with my line of sight out the lower glass, but I don’t have to deal with snow and ice so there may be some advantages in those conditions that I'm missing.

I'm baffled by this as well. I guess if you are roading the tractor on snowy/muddy roads for long periods of time it might give you a benefit but unless you are going fast enough for things to fling off your tires they dont' do anything that I can see. I really don't understand having them on a lawn tractor either as the lawn tractors I've been around dont' even go fast enough to fling things off the tires.

I guess that is why you rarely see tractors with fenders on front in the USA. No demand.

Yep,they keep the crud off my mower deck.See a lot of tractors here in the North with front fenders.

So you are mowing so fast with your lawn tractor that the front tires fling things up on your mower deck? I'd have to see that to believe it. I've had several lawn tractors including John Deere and from my experience the only time they will go that fast is rolling down a hill, definitely not while mowing.

If it really was a problem you would see fenders on zero turn mowers as they typically go much faster then lawn tractors so they might actually be able to fling things up on the deck. But you don't see many fenders on zero turn mowers either for some reason.

I can see that they would serve a purpose on a larger tractor that can actually go fast enough to fling stuff off the tires. If you did a lot of roading it would probably be really nice to have a set on the front.

This was pretty much my thinking, without having personal experience with them. But they do look smart on Coobie's JD, and apparently help keep that shiny tractor clean. :thumbsup:

I guess if I were roading my tractor any distance over wet or muddy roads I'd like to try front fenders. But it seems they could get hung up and be vulnerable to damage when doing FEL work in a big snowbank, or working in the woods over heavy deadfall, or trying to rip out undergrowth in a thicket. Would they be easily removable? With my smaller tractor over the years, I've buried the front tires in snow, brambles, Chinese grape vines, etc. many times. Sometimes stuff even gets wrapped around the hub. Would be interested to hear counterpoints on this, as I'm sure there are some.

Eric, hope I'm not hijacking, but what do you see as the benefits for what you'll be doing in Nevis? Driving back and forth from the lake house to your development maybe? BTW, I'm assuming that whatever you end up with would also fit my NX.

I thought the same thing about mud and snow getting between the fender and tire, not to mention tree branches or other thing s getting caught in them. I'm sure if they were heavy duty enough and you did enough driving at high speeds where mud, rocks, and snow was being thrown up on the tractor they would be a smart addition to a tractor and have some benefits.

I too wanted fenders in the front, I guess I'm a fast mower as well :laughing: but I never could find anything so I went a different route, mud flaps.

Found these at TSC:


Trimmed them a little, and made some aluminum holders for them:


So I ended up with this:


Then I mounted them with heavy straps:


My MMM was noticeably cleaner after installing these!


And, I don't have a picture but while plowing and roading to the neighbors there was A LOT less spray off the tires hitting me and the tractor. Probably not as good as real fenders, but it may give some ideas...

Front fenders would be really nice in the winter feeding hay in and out of muddy lots and then on muddy roads. I have to stay around 7 to 8 mph to keep the mud from plating the tractor.
