Snow plow blade coating??

I did a couple of (quick, I will admit) searches for anti-stick coatings for snow blades, and didn't find anything. I am pretty sure that TbN has had lots of discussions about that, and perhaps a patient soul will direct me to some? In the past, I have tried silicone spray, graphite paint, vegetable oil, etc., but nothing lasted long enough to make it worth the trouble. Now, I have a brand new Horst 78" front blade for our L3130, and I would love to treat it before it meets its first wet snow.

Clean it real good then wax it with automotive wax. Nothing in a spray can is worth the trouble.

Mr. Coyote, FYI, it can snow here! In the 15 years or so I've been here, I think we have had to clear out over 24" of snow ( single storm ) about 4 or 5 times. Well over your knees, and no way can I drive my Subaru thru it. Be prepared, as the Girl Scouts say. Admittedly, my present rig is overkill and probably unnecessary, but since I can... Mostly, I figure if I take good care of it, it is just a useful investment.

Anyone use SlipPlate graphite coating on a snow blade? I use it on my mower deck and it last 1-1/2 seasons. After it dries, I burnish it with a soft wire brush on a drill, to a nice slick surface.

I tried it on my rear blade (snow use only in the winter) and it wore off fairly quickly, I thought, considering the hassle of cleaning and applying it. Maybe it wasn't thick enough... just one coat.

Varmint, I think it's the snow & temps. there in MD. Not cold enough (usually). I lived in MD for a long time. Good "powdery" snow takes cold, and in MD, it seemed to me at least, to only snow while hovering around freezing and never when it was, say below 25 deg. Try wiping down your blade with Murphy's oil soap, a tip from a sharp "native" friend, but pertaining to a low pitch metal roof. Also, if your tractor & blade are warm, like stored in a garage, this will cause sticking for sure.

A good paste wax can be applied at the beginning of the snow season.

This stuff is pretty slick.

Ah, Roger, read my post #5. Maybe Rejex, followed by a coat of Murphy's Oil Soap... oughta be clean and shiny!

I give it a couple of coats of automotive spray wax. It's simple to use and takes less than a minute to apply. Last winter was particularly snowy and it worked out very well....

On plowsite.com, guys talk alot about the fluidflim. Never tried it though. But never really had any issues with the truck plow. I think going faster helps the stuff roll off and not stick. ANd if a little does...who cares.

That rustoleum never wet stuff looks like the Ultra-ever-dry stuff that there was a video of posted on here I believe a few months ago.

Wonder if it is the same product?
