I need some Kubota Orange spray paint for some touch-ups. I need the OLD Kubota orange, since my machines are both over 10 years old from the 'All Metal' era.

I did a quickie search and found these 4:

Valspar 5339-27 (New Kubota Orange Tractor and Implement)
Valspar 5339-24 (Kubota Orange Tractor and Implement)
Krylon 18254 (Kubota Orange High Gloss Paint)
Krylon 1821 (Kubota Orange Farm and Implement Paint)
Rust-Oleum 7458830 (Specialty Orange A Chalmers Farm Equipment) - heard this is a match for the old orange?
There is also Majicョ Tractor 1031006 (Truck & Implement Spray Enamel, Kubota Orange) at TSC, though that is only marginally less inconvenient than the Kubota dealer.

Which are good, bad, best, and to avoid? Any other suggestions welcome.

I used the Krylon 1821 and it sprayed weird and dried flat; this was 3 cans worth. Try a test a patch on something you don't care about before using for your own satisfaction please!

Now that you mention it - I sprayed a freebee fiberglass roof for my L4200 with Krylon a couple of years ago - it was awful paint. It was very thin with way too much solvent in it. It took 4 times the amount of cheap paint to cover, and keeping it drip free was almost impossible. Thanks for reminding me.

I have used the Valspar paint and really liked it. The New Orange was a perfect match for my newer tractor and I thought the paint went on well and covered well. Unfortunately, it is not available locally anymore unless bought in cases of six, no mix and match allowed. I have gone to using the Kubota paint as I was less than impressed with the Majic paint now carried at TSC.

Good luck

Agree, the Majic paint is crap. Wish TSC would go back to selling the Valspar line of paints in both spray cans and quarts.

Only use Kubota factory spray paint in the spray can, I Don't know why, but its tough, thick and hard once dry, Buffs easily to a factory finish.
Takes longer to dry but it's the best spray can paint you can use.

Anyone know what year Kubota changed from "old orange" to "new orange"?

We have a 2004 B2710 HST. The FEL is a 2007 Kubota and I can see no difference in color?

Also have a 2008 Bush Hog SBX60 box blade and still seems to be same color?

Thanks!

I am not sure, but I believe my 2002 B7500 was old orange. I have half a can of the valspar old kubota orange I remember using on it, and I believe it matched. I sure did not match the 2010 Kubota L3400 I had.

Not sure of the date but long before 2004

I bought my B7500 in the spring of 2003 and it is the new Kubota orange so the old orange would have to be before that. I did buy some real Kubota spray paint for touch ups but it is a little pricey. Back then my local TSC carried the Valspar brand and the new Kubota orange was a pretty good match. I agree that the Majic paint is crap and I hope TSC would go back to Valspar. In the meantime I'm only buying the Kubota brand paint.

I would say that while $12 per can for Kubota paint seems a little high, it is quality paint. I just painted my wood stove with StoveBright spray paint and that cost twice as much.

My 2002 B21 uses Kubota Bright Orange II, the newer color.

I believe that my 2003ish BX2200 and my 1994 L4200 are the same color, so I guess the 'old' orange is from back in the 80s or something.

I just bought a quart of the new orange from kubota for my L4200,
$50:eek:, I'll let you know how it looks in a week or so, when i get around to it.
Going to use the thinner from TSC I have, it looks like it's compatible.

I found this link - somebody made a table for paint options for (I think) New Kubota orange.

Paint - BXTractors.info: The Kubota BX Wiki

JFTR, I remembered that I had used Dupli-color #1620 on my '94 L4200GST, and it matched OK - not great, but good enough once it got a little dirty. My tractor is pretty old and somewhat faded though (PO stored outside), so it might be a better match on a newer machine or one that was stored indoors for its whole life (like my '02-03 BX2200).

Menards will color match and mix the paint color in rustoleum. At lease they did last year for a couple of projects to match my kubota.

I did the same thing. My paint was faded, so buying the original color wouldn't work.

I ordered Valspar (4432-24-4PK) kubota Orange Tractor and Implement, which is the "old Kubota" color. I have 2 older machines that are going to need some TLC in the near future. I haven't sprayed any, yet - so I can't comment on how good or bad it is. I ordered it based on the good reviews of fellow TBNers. The "new Kubota" color is Valspar (5339-27-6PK) New Kubota Orange Tractor and Implement.

It sure ought to be good. The last spray can I priced at a dealer was $12. **** will freeze over ....

Big R, or Farm & Fleet have Kubota Orange. When I did my wheels, I just mixed my own and got pretty close.
