Finally replaced old truck

Buying new means "original owner", not a vehicle bought from dad.

Well, I actually ordered the truck for my father as a retirement present. I got it the way I wanted it, did all the maintaince, and always had plans on getting it at this point.

My father has not bought a set of tires or changed brakes in 30 years. He trades when it's that time.

At 68 I get 23mpg. At 75 it's about 21mpg. The overall on the truck with 36,000 miles is 18.7mpg according to the computer. I checked it on two fill ups and it was .1 mpg off so very accurate. I just towed a 9' wide, 27' long, 13' tall boat that weighs in at 10,300# and I got 9.5 mpg over 800 miles through out Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, and Tennessee. It was 75mph on the highway and was passing everything I wanted on the big grades where others were at 40mph with the hazard lights on. It could have ran 100mph up them hills with ease. Chris

By the way it's a 5.5' bed, Super Crew, Eco Boost, FX4, 3.73 gears, big tow mirrors, 18" wheels version.

Do you run that fast with ST rated trailer tires? I try and keep my boat and camper at 65 tops due to the speed rating on the tires.

Yea. I know better but I run 10 ply tires on all my stuff when 6 will do on my car hauler and 8 will do on both boat's. I also replace bearings, brakes, tires, and anything else suspect every 4th season. On the boats and vehicles they get batteries every 3rd.

So far no issues.

What mileage do you get at 80mph empty?

Your doing better 2-3 mpg than my 2wd version with the same rear end on the highway. There is a wide MPG range for these trucks for some reason. Some do better than others. My best economy comes in around 60 mph and 21 mpg. Town driving I could get 17 mpg if I baby it and time the lights.

My uncle has a 2013 4x4 Limited with 3.55 gears and according to his dash his average is 21 mpg. His has 20" wheels and almost 40,000 miles to date.

Not sure. Never drive that fast other than a second to pass.

Chris

I only get around 18.5 at 80MPH. I have had my mileage up to 19.8 driving 70-75mph. I mostly average low 19's with a 5.0 F-150. My neighbor had a Ecoboost lariat supercab and he was getting lows 18's with it. For some reason he traded it on a STX supercab with a 5.0 and he is getting around 19 now.
