I posted this in the Attachments forum but figured I'd post here too since they'll be used on my LS.
Picked up a 6' King Kutter box blade and a Ford 917A Flail mower today. A couple had them for sale about 15 miles from me. I had stopped last week to look and made an offer. Today, after removing a dead tree from my driveway out by the road I got a call that they accepted my offer so I headed right down and got them before they changed their minds. When I got them home I did some mods to the blade to make it QH compatible. Will need to clean up and paint them both.

George,

The grapple on the forks is crazy cool. How many hours on your new machine so far? I've been clearing that overgrown field and sure could use a grapple. 84 hrs so far.

George,
Here is where you can get parts and a manual for that flail mower. I think they can email you the PDF file with parts diagrams. Give them a call, nice and helpful.

Tom, Thanks for the link. I can also get parts from Messick's and another site I found has cheap replacement blades.

Breadtrk, You are way ahead of me. Just about 29 hours on mine. I still have a job to go to so don't use the tractor except on weekends or when on vacation. I can also use that hydraulic thumb on my bucket too. Just used it yesterday removing a dead pine from the front yard by the road. Thumb came in very handy grabbing brush and tree sections. Worked on the flail today checking everything out, cleaning and repainting. Will post some pics tomorrow with the flail on the tractor.

Cleaned up, greased, replaced a few missing bolts and painted the flail. Have to order a couple parts then she's ready to go. I also did the box blade.

George,
Nice work on the mower! You are welcome on the info. When I bought my flail 6 years ago, no one knew where to get parts other than one way overpriced dealer. Where did you get the paint for the mower? Nice match on the color. Can you come down to NC and shoot mine with a coat? LOL!

I found the Old Ford Blue and New Holland Blue were too dark. I have bought some of that before to paint my tool box on the back of my tractor. In a previous LS Tractor post someone mentioned that Rustoleum Gloss Sail Blue was a close match. I picked up a quart at Walmart and sprayed it with my Harbor Freight spray gun. Put on 3 coats with about an hour of set time between coats. The box blade is Cub Cadet yellow from Tractor Supply.
I need a couple bearings for the carrier (back roller). I'm going to try Kaman Bearing first since they are local to me.

George,

I manage about 4,000 pc's, servers, etc in 10 states. I'm on mine every evening it isn't too wet and all weekend. The wife thinks it is better than spending every weekday eve at the VFW.

I should add, not drinking, I'm a shuffle board bowling addict. Everyone has a vice I rekon.

George, those new tools are looking great.

BTW, I spied that beauty of a 1956 Chevy in the background.

What model is it? Belair, 210, ????

Actually its a 4 door 150. It belongs to my boss. He's has a building maintenance background but knows very little about automotive. I have helped him remove the stock 6 and 3 spd stick and installed a rebuilt small block 307 and turbo 400 auto. Have to put in the new radiator, belts, hoses, trans lines etc. then send him down the road. I show him, he learns. He can finish the rest. I guess you missed seeing the Vette in the back of the garage behind the box blade. I have a 72 Chevelle convertible w/ 402 big block and auto, a 79 matching numbers Corvette I'm working on, 2012 Camaro, 2013 Silverado. Not big dollar show cars, just drivers for car cruises. As you can tell, I'm a Chevy guy.

I didn't even think of the 150 model. I knew I was missing something, but as you get older, the cobwebs take over.

I did see the Corvette, but I was more interested in the older Chevy. On offense, but my family had a 1956 Chevy Nomad back in the 1960's. As a child, I loved that car!

I have a Chevy myself. A 1977 Chevy Nova with just under 48K actual miles. Looks very nice for a four door. Has the rally wheels on it too.

I previously had a 55 Olds Super 88 and a 29 Durant street rod. Sold them and got the Chevelle and Vette to work on. I just missed out on buying a 55 Nomad after selling my Olds by 3 days. Wish I'd have called the guy the day I sold the Olds. I'll probably put a sign on my Chevelle next month at the Syracuse Nationals. If I could sell them both I'd look for a Nomad. Always liked the look of them.

Nice George! Here's something I missed out on. I found this car unrestored in a barn not far from where I lived.

1936 REO Flying Cloud. At that time, it was original Canary yellow with camel hair seats. Flat head six banger, and a little over 36,000 original miles. Guy had a bunch of cars in that barn alone, and had many other barns full of old cars. He wanted $7995.00 for it back in 1997. I didn't have a good paying job, so had to pass it up.

Years later as I was driving home, I spotted that car again in these photos. It had been stripped down to the frame, blasted, etc. 350 V8 with a turbo hydromatic 400 transmission installed. Disc brakes, air conditioning, cruise, electric windows, tilt steering wheel, the works.

He later took the car I think to Carlisle, Pa to a car show, and sold it for $62,000! I've wanted to beat myself over the head countless times for missing out on that one.

Oh well. You win some and you lose some.reo1.jpgreo2.jpgreo3.jpgreo4.jpg
