Need help tracking down why my tractor won't start. Battery seems good (12.8 volts). Turn the key on and everything seems normal. Fuel pump hums and pre heater clicks away. Once the engine light goes out I turn the key and......nothing. Does not make a sound. Is there a safety neutral switch that can go bad or should I look at something else?

Do you get any clicking noise when turning the key? If no I would suspect a bad safety switch. Places where there may be safety switches: Clutch, seat, PTO

Operate the clutch and look for switch being activated by the linkage.

Is the PTO lever in neutral? If like my 2400H this is easy to bump and not even notice that the lever has moved some.

Thanks for the tips. Is there an online site to order parts if it turns out to be a switch? I talked to the local Kubota dealer and he said "Good luck on finding parts".

Sounds like a real good Kubota dealer there. It's amazing how some dealers would rather blow you off than try and help you out and gain you as a customer. Any Branson dealer will get you parts and even have them drop shipped to you directly from Branson. Make sure your PTO is turned off, the shuttle lever is in neutral, and the clutch pedal is pushed all the way in. It could be one of those safety switches, and check your fuses. There is no seat safety switch on my 3820i. Good luck, and feel good, you have a very good tractor.

Thanks again for all the help.
Now on to placing the "Dunce cap" on my own head.
I tore into everything and cleaned all the contacts. Took the battery downtown to be tested and put everything back together. Jumped into the operators seat and tried again with the same results. I sat there knocking what little brains I have left trying to trouble shoot what could be causing this failure to start.
While sitting there I looked down on the dash at the three position switch for the PTO and something caught my eye. I actually read the writing on the switch. Turns out that all the way to the left is NOT off. Off is "CENTER"!!. Click it to the center spot and boom, the engine starts right up. I've had this tractor for years and never did that before.
Sorry for wasting thread space on a bone headed mistake.

Takes a good man to admit he made a mistake:thumbsup:

I have pulled the rope on my snow blower until I was exhausted only to find it starts better when you turn the key on

Glad it was a simple inexpensive learning curve.
