Don't use a ripper, just the teeth on the 6' wide bucket.RE Reply #10.
What do you use for a ripper?
From what I can make out from the pictures you are cleaning out an existing dam which appears very shallow. Most dams I have constructed if 1000cu/yrds or over are at least
10ft deep or deeper. Measurements for a 1000 cu/yrd dam are 90x70ft top, 30x10ft floor, 10ft deep, batter slope 1 in 3.
There was no way these dams could have been built by conventional methods without the use of a good ripper, the possible exception may have been a self elevating scraper.

What are you actually referring to in regard to a small scraper. (tractor hauled, self elevating, etc)
As you said you would need a machine to level or large fill/waste area. Can't see dump trucks being utilized successfully unless you have a large tip area or have a dozer to form the bank or level off the dump.

Have almost completed converting what was originally a "Gaston" 4 wheel lever operated horse drawn scoop to a 2 wheeled tractor drawn hydraulic scoop.
.[/QUOTE} Have completed it, tried it out yesterday and it works well.
Hope to get someone to post pictures.
