case 448
Greetings from Wisconsin again. So the 448 I'm putting back together is equipped with the 44in rear discharge deck. Anybody out there have any problems using this deck deck without the bagger? Problems like clumping or clogging? Anybody doing that they had to move a bit slower opposed to the side discharge? My J45 is in great condition considerations it's age .

thanks in advance,
Floyd

The J-45 deck was developed primarily for use with a towed Lawn Sweeper. Case made one of the very best sweepers and charged a premium price for it.

You can expect to end up with a windrow of clumped grass spewing out between your back tires. That is the nature of the beast. However, the windrow does make it easier to hand rake the clippings and then pick them up for placement in a container of choice.

If the above does not work for you, then seek out a 44 or 48-inch left hand discharge deck and use it. But even those are not perfect. If you do not cut your grass frequently, then you will still have noticeable clippings on the lawn but they will be spread out further.

Case comes to your rescue on that score with either the HydraBagger or the HydraVac. However, you must have the OPTIONAL Rear PTO Kit and either an M OR N Series mower deck so that the collection boot will bolt up.

Hey Hydriv...
I suspected the trail out between the rear wheels. I do see those VAC's/ Sweeps for sale occasionally here in SE WI... I'm not looking to have a golf course style lawn.. So I suppose I just use it as is and keep my eyes peeled for a good deal on a side discharge deck or a vac. First things first... I'm inching ever closer to ignition on the 448 that hasn't run in ten years easy....

Many thanks,
Floyd.
