I love my Kubota, BUT... I hate the fact that my L3400 does not have a foot throttle; only hand control. Perhaps there's a mod for this? If so, I'd sure appreciate learning about it.

Not sure I've ever seen a foot throttle on a HST tractor, usually they are only on geared machines.

We are confused. :confused3: Were you thinking of putting the foot throttle on the left side? How would you operate the hydrostat pedal and the throttle at the same time?

Foot throttle & HST do not mix! How would you use that???

Just another good reason to have a gear drive! :D

The same way you operate steering brakes and hydrostat pedal on a Kubota.. you have 2 right feet!:D

Thankfully my steering brakes are on the left on my Kioti!

I'm in the process of buying a Kubota B3350HD and will miss the foot throttle. The brakes are on the right where the clutch used to be. We shall see......

Clutch is usually on the left?

Haaa! The other right! LOL Yes, the brakes on that model have been mover to the left where the clutch is supposed to be. They 86'd the clutch, so only the treadle is on the right.

And for something totally different, I drove a big MF last week with a hydraulic shuttle. That has a foot clutch, plus an electric clutch button on the shifter for those that would rather not use their foot.. And a foot throttle plus hand throttle as well. Sweeeeeet.. all 90 plus hp of it!

HA HA!

James,

I'm a Kubota fan, but you've highlighted what I think is one of Kubota's most glaring errors, historically-speaking.

Thanks for the good laugh--I always enjoy your thoughtful posts--especially about something as thoughtless as Kubota putting the hydro and brake pedals on the same side, leaving the left foot with nothing to do! (And isn't the diff lock on the right, as well, necessitating THREE right feet?)

Well on a DT it is on the right but on a HST it is on the left. But I don't know how the heck you are suppose to operate the throttle and the Diff lock at the same time on a DT... oh well. The guys that design them probably never sat on one.:D

Hand throttle is used most of the time, so not a prob with diff lock... I've owned several old tractors and they are all the same as the DT. In the clutch, foot/hand throttle, brakes & diff lock. It's these newer HST that are all weird. :)

No, the diff lock is on the left, as is the brake lock. I find with hydro I rarely use the brake pedal so it's not an issue for me. When I do use the brake it's usually to park so I am using the brake lock and it is more convenient to have them on opposite sides.
