I am actively searching for a new tractor and have a couple threads out there. Readers digest version: 65acres, ~7-8 field. 2 of the 7 acres is fenced for our critters and needs to be tilled/disced/or ??? 1-2 times a year to chop up the turned over sod and replanted. ~5 acres needs to be brush hogged during the year. Then just general purpose tractor work (clean up, wood hauling, some snow removal, moving big square bales.

I have visited and checked out LS and now I am on to Kioti. Will look at a couple others just cause!

Local dealer has a CK30 w/FEL for $15,900 looked fair so I called him about a CK30HST. None on hand but has a CK35HST (w/FEL) for $18,900. Told me that the CK30HST would be about in the middle of those 2 prices. The he says that the best deal he has right now is a DK40SE HST(w/FEL) for $21,900 which sounds pretty decent.

My question(s) is: Are those prices reasonable? and Do you think the DK is a little to much for what I need? My thinking being if I can get away with say a CK35HST I could use the money for attachements.

Thought?

Thanx,
McD

Ithink the DK would be perfect for you and that is a good price from what I've seen on here.

21900 is the best I found for a DK40 HST with a loader.

I was quoted $21300 for a DK40 HST with loader so yeah that's a good price.

So here is the scoop. The $21,900 for a DK40SE HST is from a dealer ~90 miles away (I saw his listing online and called him). I just got back from the local dealer (~20 miles) and his price is $22,885. That is almost 1K difference in price. Of course I will have to go get the tractor that is 90mi away (and find a trailer) or pay them to deliver (if they will) but for $1000 is almost seems worth it. BUT… I would like to buy local and I am trying to figure out the best way to handle it. Just lay it all on the line and see what they will do (and try not to piss them off), try to work a deal on attachments (I need a brush hog and a tiller). If I bring this up and buy from the other I'll feel funny about future service etc.

Thoughts? I grand is worth talking about don't you think?

Split the difference and offer the local dealer $500 less than he's asking and try to get a shop manual thrown in as a kicker if you get close. The attachments give them room to move too.

Shop manual??? Is that the same thing as I used to get when I didn't need a computer to work on a car?

DK now, if it's Tier 3 emissions. Get it now for best price you can; once gone an equivalent Tier 4 will cost more and we don't yet know what if any problems Tier 4 could bring. You won't regret buying a DK-40.

When I got prices on the DK40 the best price was a long drive for me. I decided to talk to my local dealer who was about the same amount away as yours. I explained to him that I wanted to do business locally but to me the price difference was worth the drive and he did his best to match it. In the end he beat the other price by 9 dollars. Its always worth talking about!

Yep. Seem like they run around $50 bucks but it's been a couple years since I got mine. If you search here you'll see a lot of feedback on the quality but it's better than nothing if you want or have to do some of the work yourself? Especially if you don't want to drive 90 miles every time.

It's nice to have the dealer close esp. if a service issue arises.

I paid exactly what you were quoted for the DK40HST ($21,9000)

I got the dealer to throw in a second rear remote. If the local guy will do this your really only out about $500 more.

IMO worth it to have a nearby dealer.

Oh yes, the second rear remote was a wise move. Makes box blade work with TNT a pleasure rather than a PITA.

Good luck.

Rngr275.. Where in upstate NY? I'm in the Dutchess County area and that sounds like a great deal.

Good price on the DK, twice the lift capacity +500 lbs than the CK, this is extra capacity is good if some day you want to get a set of pallet forks to move stuff around, or a grapple bucket etc, not having to work on the ragged edge is nice:)...and safer:thumbsup:

Service manual $50, I'll take 2! Two fifties that is, they cost closer to $100 these days!:confused2:

WOW! For $219K no wonder you got a free second remote; was that on the extra 10 tractors or just the first one?

It almost seems like you're saying the local dealer won't want to work on a tractor purchased elsewhere? I purchase mine from a dealer 32 miles away to save $$$. He did a crappy job preparing it and now I need to have his mistakes fixed under warranty. There is a dealer 14 miles away who I was hoping to take it to.

If I was the local dealer I'd be more upset if you didn't give me an opportunity to match his price.

He wasn't interested enough to even open the door to dealing. AND he wanted to steer me to a smaller machine, I guess a leftover, that he had two of. All water under the bridge.

Thanks for all the advice but I was schooled and scolded by the local Kioti dealer today. I stopped and told them I wanted to buy their DK40SE HST, but I had a little bit of a problem. I explained that I was uncomfortable asking them this but I was at another dealer who had the very same tractor for $1000 less. While I didn't expect a price match I asked if there was wiggle room on the price, the weighting of the tires or possibly working out some sort of deal for the tractor and a brush hog or tiller. I explained that I really wanted to buy local and give them my business. Answer No to any of it. "Our price is our price", there is no dickering. In fact if someone comes here for service and they didn't buy it here they are at the bottom of the priority list. Anybody shows up with a tractor purchased at their store automatically bumps a non-customers tractor back down the list. I said even for warranty work? The reply" we will do the warranty work when we get to your tractor". Really bad mouthed the dealer who undercut them also.

Needless to say I was a little taken aback and a little miffed at being talked to like that (like a child). I am a man of certain principles and at this point I don't think I would take a hand from them if I was drowning.

The problem is the other Kioti dealer is a 100 miles away and that is a long haul when you need service and have to find a trailer to borrow/rent. There are other tractors (brands) I have been looking at so I have outs. But I do like that DK!

Just venting at this point!

What dealer, where, please? This kind of arrogant attitude by dealers is so counterproductive, it's ridiculous! I just can't believe that anyone, especially in this economy would be so foolish to voice an attitude like that to a potential customer?! Good way to drive away potential business.
So vote with your feet and buy from the guy who will give you the 1K discount, and don't look back. Better to find out now your local guy is someone you don't ever want to do business with.
