LS R3039H, Cub Cadet LTX 1046 VT, Woods BB72x Rotary Cutter
I went in today and purchased a new R3039H. It gets delivered Friday! I have been searching for a few months now although I have been reading the forum on and off for a few years. I worked on a research farm 25 years ago while going to school. The farm was well funded and had a lot of nice toys. Since then I always dreamed of having a tractor, even with my little 1/4 acre piece of land, lol. I bumped into 5 acres of about 2/3 wooded property at at a price I couldn't refuse early this year. So now I am beginning a fairly big adventure for a computer nerd.

I looked at most of the brands out there, and no one nearby could match the price/features of the LS. The bigger names were WAY off. I liked the DK40 too, but even it was almost 3k more and had to be shipped since they are sold out in the area. I may have been able to get by with the 3033 and I am sure it is great, but I liked that the 3039 just seemed a little more rugged all around. I have a lot of clearing to do, so I hope that a little more capacity will make life a little easier (and more tolerant of noob mistakes). I am slightly worried that it is overkill, but have read a hundred times that you should pick one size bigger than you think you need. I also picked up a Woods bb72x rotary cutter. My next purchase will be a post hole digger, though a 3pt chipper would be really handy too. Obviously a tiller is a must, and of course a blade for winter, and at that point I probably wont need any of it because my wife will kill me, lol.

I had a few things added. The tires are loaded, radiator heater, and I had hoses run for a 3rd function remote too. I hope to wind up with a grapple of some sort very soon. I would love to be able to pick up trees after I cut them down to make it easier to cut them up. I'll have a bunch of cut brush to move around too.

I was a little concerned about tire choice since I will need to plow my road in winter. I found that siping thread a few days ago, and so now I feel a little better about the R4 choice. I'll pick up the tool for it this summer, and try to get it completed before fall. It doesn't sound like much fun to do when it is cold.

We are supposed to get some beautiful weather for the weekend, so this should be fun! I'll take some pictures and send them along when it arrives. I'll appreciate them later as a reminder of what it looked like before being completely covered in mud and dirt :D

No kidding! I'm still waiting because I have to sell my second house before making the jump.

The suspense is killing me!

Javarob, congratulations on your new tractor. Be sure to read the owner's manual, and pull your break in maintenance according to schedule. These are tough tractors.

Congrats on the new tractor. I feel your pain. I've been waiting for my 4046 for a few weeks now and the dealer doesn't have an expected delivery date for me. How does that annoying commercial go? "I want my money (tractor)...and I want it now! :)

Congrats on the new tractor! I'm sure you're going to get a lot of work out of it. I've had my R3039H for almost two years, with 210 hrs, and love it. No issues whatsoever. I did manage to bend a stabilizer bar by backing the box blade into a stump, but that was on me.

Do you think the extra $ for the 4046 is worth it? I am trying to decide. I was quoted xr4040H = $23,510 and xr4046H = $24,600
Thanks

The dealer had the machine you have on site with the cab. He asked me if I was sure I didn't want that instead, lol. The 3039 is already a stretch for the budget, so had to decline. I did sit in it for a bit, definitely a nice machine.
