I have managed to get out to the garage and get the drivetrain finished, just a tensioner and clutch pedal to sort out. Having ran the engine to check get rartios I am quite happy with the mix of low grunt in 1st (10 rpm at 1000rpm!) and reasonable pace in top with the revs up (didn't time it was too busy holding the tractor, stopping it falling off the axle stands!)

Gotta love that big old flywheel !

Good progress, at this rate you'll be putting your garden in with it soon !

Word of advice - I'd strongly suggest posting a video of it running when you are done..... otherwise, you might end up with a whole pile of TBN'ers camped at the end of your driveway, trying to get a look !

Agreed! I def would like to post several videos, never had much success however with YouTube, once it's running proper I will have to consult someone! Oh you need a big flywheel when you can hear (and see) the individual combustion events! It's only 7 1/2 hp but takes a bit of stopping this little British engine!

Thanks, slow progress due to family commitments, exhaust done and clutch started.

Landie rear axle and transmission, and an old field milking parlour engine ? My father ran one similar 40 years ago, a Wolseley just with an open top egg cooker cooling system :)

Hi, landrover rear axle, however the gearbox is from a Volvo, the engine is one of the more modern lister-petters from the late 1980's to present day, it has good power and revs quite high (upto 3000 rpm) however I do have another much heavier lister LR1 that only revs to 750 and makes a mere 1.5 hp forever!

Interesting, I didn't realize the later ones rev'd that high. Is that a factory redline, or unofficial ?

No worries! Not sure it would be a pretty sight at 8bhp! Be a lot of smoke involved!

Thanks for the support, it should be getting done much quicker but I'm only managing an hour here and there, a full time job and seven month old baby take priority!
Another hour spent on it tonight, re made some of the clutch parts, much happier now!

No idea mate, I'm no lister expert. This one is ideal for my needs though
