Got a Z force 50" Kohler motor that is totally dead; no clicks when I go to start it or pull out the PTO; hour clock is functioning. The starter was replaced a few months ago, the battery is 100% and I replaced the fuse with no changes.

Any advice is greatly appreciated since I just spent $800 a few months ago having it gone over.

Thanks!

Pete,

As you know, it won't start if you aren't on the seat, the brake isn't engaged, and the lap levers aren't fully extended to their out most parked positions. I think you'll find one of the switches at each lap lever, the seat switch, or the parking brake, or their related wiring has let you down.

AS well, the starter relay or its related wiring to the starter may have taken a holiday. Good Luck!

Not the same problem - hoping someone has some suggestion where to start looking. Mine runs fine but when I try to take the brake off it dies, acts like a safety switch issue. Once in a while it blows the 7.5 amp fuse, but I haven't figured out anything consistently doing that, so have just replaced it. Thanks, Kay

Try looking at the safety switch on the arms. On mine the brake has to be dropped before pulling the arms in. If the arm safety switch is sticking then dropping the brake will kill the engine. If the switch is faulty, then try bypassing it to see if it will stay running with the arms out and brake off. It is designed to kill the engine if you try to move the mower with the brake on. Also you can't start with the brake off. Check both brake and arm safety switches. -kid

Usually when this occurs is when you have a faulty safety switch. That's where you should start. You can take a piece of wire and start with each one and jump them out till you find the faulty one to replace. Locations where mentioned above.

good advice by The Kid for finding those bad connections in a line. jump em out till you find the one causing it.

takes time.. but almost never fails finding an open in a line.
