Hello,

I visited an LS dealer north of me who had 2 R3039H tractors in stock.

In coverstation he quoted me $24k for the R3039H and loader....

I know this price is way too high, however is the supply of these getting limited as they change to Tier IV?

You remember the story about Omar the tent maker, it could be the last one they have a great following, you could be right.

Don't need a tent, have a 5th wheel...lol...

Either way he's not going to make a sale to me verbally pricing the R3039H at $24k and the XR4041H at $30k....

I won't even seriously try to negotiate when he gives those prices as a start..

I was just curious of the R3039H is going away because of Tier IV?

I think that as the Gov't. keeps on tightening the pollution requirements tier 3 tractors won't be made or available here. The only new ones available will be tier 4. As tier 3 's sell off the lots they will be gone but there will be tons of used ones if you can pry them out of the owners hands. I have a tier 4 and so far it's OK but don't have hardly any hours on it yet.

The way I understand it the R Series is being replaced by the U series. I guess once the factory exhausts their stock of R's, there will be no more. At least that's what my dealer told me when I got my used R3039.

I don't think they will do away with the R series just change it to XR. They may not build an XR3039 and just jump to the XR 4041 since they are so close. I am sure they wont jump from a J series to a U series which start at over 50HP. The R (XR new number) will still be made, just some models may be dropped due to TIER IV issues with the engines.

Now that you mention it, I remember the context now. When dealer dropped off my tractor, they were going to pick up a used R4047 they bought and that's when he said the R4047 wasn't going to be made anymore and will be replaced by whatever line has the new tier 4 machines.

Sorry for any confusion I may of caused.

If you go to the global site and look at their lineup I think you can figure out which way they are going. It does say they are available in ROPS models with Tier 4.

Premium Compact Tractor LS XR Series Features | LS Tractor Official Site

I am interested in the new PLUS series that should be replacing the P series tractors. Or maybe they will use a different number, like the one on their Facebook page highlighting a recent photo shoot. None of the current P series tractors are tier 4 compliant, the P7030 has been discontinued and the P7010 isn't available with power shuttle. That leaves just the P7040, a 30 HP jump between power shuttles.

If you go to the global site you can download a catalog on the left hand side of the page that I linked above.

Looking at the global and US sites, it looks like the R is replaced by XR, and the smaller frame size tractor currently R3039 is going to 36hp (XR3037).

Also from 4cyl Mitsu to 3cyl Shibaura (DPF), and a different loader (less lift more break-out)..

Here is an ad for a XR4040H from my local dealer:

The R3039H is being replaced by the XR3037H. Really its only a 1.5hp less than the 3039. 24K is pretty high with what i sell mine for. The XR series has a ton of diff tractor models. You have an XR3032, XR3037, XR4040, and XR4046. You can get them in a HST or gear drive and also get a cab on them all except the XR3032.

I was ready to buy a R4041H or R4049H, but I can not find any in the midwest. I would consider a XR4040H or XR4046 but the cost increase has me looking at orange.

Friends,

I am a TYM and LS dealer in Oklahoma City. Indeed the R3039's are no more. I just received an email today (3/26/14) that there are no more of these units at the warehouse. They are replaced by the XR3037 tier 4 model. Basically the R and U models have been replaced by the XR and XU models, X is simply LS's designation for tier 4. On the XR models the horse power ratings have dropped slightly and on the XU models horse power has gone up considerable. Tier 3 U models included a 47 and 55hp. The tier 4 XU models are 55 and 65hp. For the rest of 2014 there may be a few tier 3 tractor around at dealers are thought the country but I would imagine that by June they will all be gone. Different manufactures have taken different strategies with regards to their introduction of tier 4 units. LS has opted to introduce their fastest selling units first in tier 4. This is because manufacturers are allowed to continue to import tier 3 models based off a percentage of tier 4 imports (I do not know the percentage). LS wanted to continue to offer the economy G series and the premium P series as tier 3 as long as possible. Do no quote me on this but I believe we will be able to sell some tier 3 models into 2015 but I believe that by 2016 all tractors above 25hp will be tier 4.

We have sold about a dozen tier 4 units since they have been introduced. The new tier 4 engines LS uses are actually stronger and more durable engines than their tier 3 cousins. The new tier 4 units are more fuel efficient, quieter, and have a much better oiling system. This should lead to a longer life expectancy for these engines. From looking at the retail pricing aspect of tier 4 you can expect to spend about $1000 to $2000 more on current tier 4 models over the tier 3 model. I have not seen pricing for the larger tractors, P series as of yet.

Hope this info helps,

Yes, thanks for the update.

Now I need to decide if I should grab one of the last ones, or wait for an XR series tractor knowing I will have to deal with DPF regen..

I have the XR4046Hc and I haven't noticed any difference on the tier 4, I previously owned a kubota grand L 3430 and was a bit smaller tractor and lighter. I needed the weight and a little more power. I have a little over 300 hours on mine now and not a lick of trouble with the emissions. it burns clean and yes it does burn off the carbon build up but I don't think it affects the economy much at all. I haven't seen a bit of soot or even a wiff of diesel smell so I think that it is a nice, clean powerful engine. If it were giving me any trouble I wouldn't be afraid to vent my gripes.

I'm curious, what is the basis for labeling the tier 4 engines as more powerful? For example, the replacements for the R4041/47 -XR4040/46 are smaller and lesser rated powerplants than the Mitsubishi engine that were in those tier 3 models.

In the first paragraph He did say the XR series is less powerful. It's only the XU series that gained a little HP.

Ah ok, I see that ... I thought he was speaking generally about the new engines.
