JD 5205 Has Blinking Hour Meter Display

I have a John Deere 5205 where everything in the small hour meter display (which also has miscellaneous symbols in it) is blinking all 8's. I haven't noticed any operational differences in the way it runs or operates (other than the fact that I have no idea how many hours I have on the tractor).

Anyone have ideas on how to correct this problem?

The electronics in the "gauge" are probably shorted out from water etc.
My guess would be, you need a new gauge.

I also have a 5205 with about 1775 hours on it that just started blinking hour meter display with same symptoms. Kept in a shed so I don't believe its a moisture problem. A new display is $478. Hoping someone knows of a fix.

Guess it was 'on the blink'!
