Concerning the scientists who bark at the moon, I'm beginning to suspect that some of our number are alien/human hybreds sent here to spread disinformation. Barking at the moon could be a way of communicating with their place of origin.

Lunacy! Now we are getting somewhere.

The moon is high and bright in the winter sky, but three days past full. The howling is subsiding.

My scientific pursuit has lead me to Singapore where I have found little evidence of inverted Vs except for this grand example... MBS or in long form, the Marina Bay Sands Hotel/Casino. Looking closely at the construction you will notice the leaning members.

What is the structure that is being supported by the inverted Vs?

I have made additional progress on the "Lunacy Scale." A known shortcoming of the "Crackpot Index" is its linear form. To illustrate, the "Hayist" theorists have scored 75 on the index, while the "Ley Line" theorists have scored 150 on the same index. This implies that the Ley Linests are only twice as looney as the Hayists.

The Lunacy Scale overcomes this problem by accurately measuring differences in the degree of looneyness. The Lunacy Scale value (V) is computed as 10[SUP]L[/SUP] - 1, where L is the Lune reading (L > or = 0) for the particular theory. The Lune reading is obtained from the "Lunemeter" (patent pending) that I have invented. The Lunemeter Mach 1 (the scientific version) is shown below.

The Lunemeter Mach 1 readings of L are 1 for the Hayists and 3 for the Ley Lineists. The values of the Lunacy Scale are then 9 for the Hayists and 999 for the Ley Lineists. Thus, the Ley Lineists are 111 times more looney than the Hayists.

Ah yes, but there are two interpretations of Ley lines... the mystical energy type (as previously stated, mostly supported by those who "enjoy" dressing up in squirrel costumes and 'frolicking in the wilds') and the straight forward Point A to Point B marking type.

Intense magnetic undulations (frequency highs) could fall under the A-B interpretation as they would have affected geological formations over the millennial course.

Please distinguish between the two (or 2.5), Steve.

L = 3 for the "traditional" ley lineists and L = 3.6 for the "New Age" ley lineists. The latter group is 442.23 times loonier than the hayists, speaking algorithmically.

I try to avoid looking a members, whether they are "leaning" or "straight"

Like many, The Economist is invoking Al Gore when confronted with information he finds incomprehensible.

A distinct possibility here; the placer of the pallets is a lunatic. If this is the case, then Cardinal Rule #1 applies: Never attempt to second-guess a lunatic or an idiot.

Aunt Emily, Pipette, and I will be incommunicado for several weeks beginning tomorrow (2/19) at 10:00 am (EST). We have obtained a grant to study the Spivakians, a splinter group of the Church of Voodoo Pharmacology. The Spivakians believe that there are coded messages in the transcriptions of "Meet the Press" when it was hosted by Lawrence E. Spivak (pictured below).

Uh~oh......It just got political in here....
So Al Gore is one word now?
Synonymous with wealthy genius?

Genius would be the LAST name I would give to ALGORE

This comes back to sparc's hearsay report that the owner of the property may be from Texas. It's just a hop, skip, and jump to assume that he is a Texas A&M graduate. The Cardinal Rule #1 should be "Never attempt to second guess a lunatic, an idiot, or a Texas Aggie," although some might argue that the three categories are not mutually exclusive.

My good man, Dave.

Seeing as Steve is going on sabbatical it is logical that he has 'left the keys' to his laboratory with you.

I therefore put my case to you that I am first in the queue to gain access to the Scientific Grade X-ray Glasses.

Yours in Science,

I concur, and Texas Aggies should never be allowed to stack wooden objects in any case.

As you attempt to keep the sand fleas out of your pina coladas, please be alert for pallet-related phenomena while on your professor emeritus junket to study the Spivakians.

I'm afraid that will be Al's greatest legacy. He spawned more raving lunatics than Helen of Troy launched ships.

Your request is duly noted and is being taken under the utmost consideration. I doubt Steve will be needing them on the nude beaches.

Steve, I recognize that you are now on sabbatical but to answer your query... the structure atop I believe was designed to represent a surf board. However most call it a boat albeit bent. It does hold water... a lot as a matter of record. A huge infinity swimming pool overlooking the beautiful city of Singapore is in fact the longest elevated swimming pool in the world, at 200m above ground level. The elevator button to the top is 57.

Now how inverted pallets translate to a pond more than 600ft in the air... I will leave that to others. However if the geese are migrating south to Australia, they could stop here without descending.

An infinity pool 200 meters above the ground; it needs a glass bottom to complete the effect. Not sure I could get in something like that.
