Pto driven water pump

It is a simple water pump connected to the front pto to get driven.
Far more farm tractors have these pumps driven off a rear pto as front pto's on larger tractor are not common.

Ah ha starting to make sense. I found one ad that says It was originally powered by a 1.5 HP electric motor with a shaft diameter of 5/8 in.

Besides the adapter to pto, could this work
Here's the ad

Standard Electric motors run at either 1750 or 3400 rpm ... your standard pto is 540 or 1000 RPM. You will be running that pump well below its rated curve for pressure & volume.

Yup. Not a good fit then..I found one that might work well but the adapter to pto I think has to be located.

Bought mine two years ago at TSC for about $140 as I recall. I could use it for spraying, but usually use it to blow out the gravity water line from my dam to a cattle trough 200 yards away. The field was fenced off from the stream, so the trough provides my renter's cows with water. But the line silts up over time. I hope to put a hydraulic ram on that line this summer which will eliminate the silting. The trough is a flow through back to the stream so the water can run continuously.

My dad used a PTO pump and a homemade rig built around a 50 gal barrel to spray fences back in the 1950s and 1960s. Handy little devices.

Looked at another model : says

Pump shaft rotation: CCW

the Ferroni says CW.

my pto goes CW.. so the pump should be for CCW

'When direct coupling shafts, always MATCH THE OPPOSITE ROTATION pump with the shaft.'

but on ruralking

the answer to a question about a pump (Shaft Size: 5⁄8” solid shaft Rotation: CCW) was confused:

Q: Hi my tractor pto spins clockwise when standing behind looking at the shaft. will this pump work on my tractor? Can the shaft be switched to the other side of the pump?

A: Hello
I am sorry this pump will not work for your tractor. It is for a tractor that spins counter clockwise. Have a nice day!

so i bought this one with torque and chain and coupler for 150.

looking into the plumbing now. not sure how yet to regulate the system..
