ok, stupid question time...
why do dogs suck eggs?
not to get across the road...
is it like a milkshake or ice cream cone to them?
I understand wild animals to get fed, but if your dog just ate his bowl
of dog food, and saw an egg, would he/she still suck it?

boy you learn interesting things here....

and good morning everyone.
Most dogs love eggs. Very difficult to keep dogs from eating eggs, virtually impossible if they ever get around a broken egg.

Dogs don't suck eggs. A dog will almost always eat an egg when given the opportunity.
The term "suck eggs" has nothing to do with eating eggs. It's a euphemism. Mr. Darro was indicating that the dog that was lost has so far been irreplaceable.
Urban Dictionary: suck eggs
1) to come up empty in an attempt to achieve. 2) a command to 'get lost' or to 'buzz off'. often used in the form 'go suck eggs.'

The term originated from dogs eating eggs, they would often bite one end in the nest and lap up the inside, thus the term sucking eggs. I've seen way more than cared to.

I would think the shell would be like a bone...

Dogs eat bones, chew them up and get the marrow out and swallow pieces of bone as well, dogs will eat anything.
